Horse Racing Tips: Doctor to take the rise in class in Southwell 36/1 double

Southwell - 18:00: Back Bringbackmemories

Bringbackmemories at 5/16.00 starts the ball rolling tonight for the double at Southwell, and he can't fare much worse than Greenwich yesterday who ran an absolute shocker.

The selection in the 18:00 is stepping up in distance to 1m4f and that should suit judged on his overall profile, and indeed his run last time at Newcastle over 1m2f.

It was a steadily run affair and didn't suit at all despite finishing second and he's only up 1lb to 73 for that run.

All the more creditable too as he was returning from a break of 95 days.

He was retained by owner Jimmy Fyffe, whose black and pink silks are a familiar sight in Scotland, after winning a seller at Hamilton over 1m1f. That's a stiff old finish in Scotland and he also ran well with seconds at Beverley and York last term plus a win at Haydock off a steady pace.

Southwell - 19:00: Back Doctor Khan Junior

No doubt about the race of the night at Southwell on Tuesday with a Class 2 7f Handicap and Doctor Khan Junior has a chance to prove himself up in class, and he's a horse I've been successful with a couple of times on these pages.

Indeed those two wins at Newcastle and Wolverhampton marked him down as a horse well and truly on the up and there has been a lot to like about the manner of those two victories.

Last time at Wolves he beat a John Gosden horse by over 3L and clocked a good time in the process and very consistent in terms of sectionals whilst mostly front-rank, chiming in with a race-finishing speed of bang on 100%.

He's up to 86 now and has taken his record on the All-Weather to 3-5. He looked quite good at York last term too winning a handicap in good style.

His mother was a Group 3 winner and Geoff Oldroyd has a decent horse on his hands.
