Alan Dudman has a 14/115.00 pair for his double
I put up Bringbackmemories for Sunday's column but he was a non-runner, but nothing untowards seems to have happened to him in two days and he is in this afternoon at Chelmsford - in probably an easier race, so he remains a bet and the case is much the same.
He has taken to the All-Weather well in his two starts this winter with his second at Newcastle in December - his first try on the surface, and he followed up with a win at Southwell last time over 1m4f.
The key to this horse is his staying power as he was quickest at Southwell when the race really warmed up in terms of pace, and in the final four furlongs he churned out a sub-12 second sectional.
In today's Amateur Riders Handicap, it looks an easier contest than Sunday. Rider Dominic Hislop is booked, an unheard of amateur with just four career rides, but he's had a winner and claims 5lb.
Trainer Iain Jardine has a near 40% placed record with his runners at Southwell too.
Crimson Angel didn't have the run of things at all at Kempton last time in a messy race that turned into a dash off a crawl, and she is better than at least what she displayed there.
The filly has been backed from 9/25.50 to 11/43.75, with her foes in opposition are a Roger Varian horse off a 214-day break and serial loser Mondammej (famous last words). So I'd be disappointed if she wasn't up to this.
The 4yo won her novice at Southwell over C&D last March and she travelled really well that day - and that makes her mark of 78 appealing for this.
She is one of the youngest in the field and certainly one of the least exposed, and with her two victories on the All-Weather thus far, she can hopefully add to that.
