Alan tackles the feature handicap at Pontefract on Monday

Alan Dudman has two selections for Monday at Pontefract and Ffos Las as part of his latest multiple...

  • Burke can continue good form with Bolster

  • Early days with Hobbs' handicapper at Ffos Las

  • Alan Dudman has 6/17.00 and 3/14.00 tips for Monday

Pontefract - 14:52: Back Bolster

Trainer Karl Burke was in grand form at Musselburgh yesterday with a double, and the yellow and black famed silks of Sheikh Obaid have been seen plenty of late with Poet Master and Ice Max both hacking up in their respective races in the past few days. Hopefully we can see the yellow and dotted livery in the winner's enclosure today.

The horse in question is Bolster - who undoubtedly is one of the most interesting runners on the Pontefract card for Monday and will be running for Burke for the first time since leaving Simon and Ed Crisford.

He won his first two starts with the previous Newmarket yard on debut at Leicester and a scorching 6L win at Windsor under a penalty.

The finishing speed at Windsor was a 106%, and his final sectional was nearly half a second quicker than the second and was very strong in the finish. I can see Pontefract suiting him as he has the perfect draw in one today to adopt those front-running tactics.

Royal Ascot beckoned for him last term on his third run in the Group 3 Hampton Court - a race that was not kind to him as he met trouble, and then he ran in a quality handicap at Newmarket and was well beaten.

Back after a break of 283 days, he won fresh last term and off a mark of 97 and top weight he looks a fascinating contender for a leading yard that have hit the ground running.

Ffos Las - 15:12: Back Imperial Saint

Imperial Saint has been turned over a couple of times going handicapping, but he's well worth following today in exploring the longer trip at Ffos Las.

He's over 2m4f in deepest Wales following his 2m2f effort last time out in heavy conditions at Exeter, but a couple of mistakes late on put paid to his chances.

Previously, and perhaps his best run, came behind Dan Skelton's Doyen Quest at Newbury when finishing third over 2m. That looked a good piece of form at the time and Doyen Quest has since won again at Cheltenham's recent April meeting.

On that run, the 2m4f could be ideal today. He was impressive earlier in the season at Ludlow and the good to soft conditions could suit down to the ground.
