Classy Al looking for first win since 2022
In a day of Class 5 and 6 races, Ayr at least have a Class 3 on their Tuesday card and the 19:30 could go to Jim Goldie - which one however is the question.
Goldie has three of the seven and Be Proud was a big price initially on the Sportsbook as one of the outsiders at 8/19.00, but the 6/17.00 is still fair in a small field.
With form on heavy and good, I don't think he's too ground dependant and this is far more realistic than the 0-105 he ran in last time at Musselburgh. Over 5f there at a speed track was too much for him, so back to 6f today will suit and dropping down in class is a massive plus.
He actually didn't run too badly either passing a few horses at the end.
Be Proud produced a personal best last October winning over C&D from 78 and a change of tactics on that occasion worked a treat as he reverted from a hold-up ride to going from the front - and it really suited as he travelled well.
That was his third win of last term, and a nice long straight clearly suits him as he won twice at Doncaster too.
With form at 7f, I'd love to see him make the running here and any rain will suit him.
Seven furlongs at Ayr suits my namesake Classy Al and his mark has lured me in for a good run on Tuesday.
He appeared over C&D last time in a race that didn't suit at all. It was on good ground, he missed the break again (which is becoming a habit) and the finishers raced prominently in a steadily run contest.
Classy Al ran really well on his previous start when trying 5f, and he has never been a natural speedster, and he did well to finish third there coming from a long way back.
He hasn't won since 2022 (at Ayr), but he was consistent last season and he's another Goldie selection that wouldn't mind any of the rain.
