Catterick - 14:45: Back Bebside Banter
Bebside Banter was a horse who appeared in the column for his latest run at Sedgefield and I was left very disappointed with his finishing effort.
A second place and 5L defeat behind Big Bee Hive saw him put firmly in his place but I would offer up an excuse as he was taken on for the lead and wasn't really allowed to settle in front. The two that went off set the race up for the closer in Big Bee Hive who received a nice waiting ride.
Bebside Banter is best out dominating and he's usually a good jumper. He made a mistake at the first fence too last time which slightly put him on the back foot.
He does stay further than today's 2m3f as he scored at Sedgefield over 2m5f in soft conditions and with a small field today at a sharp track, he can dominate here.
Danny McMenamin is on board again and he's on the hotlist for jockeys at the moment with 7-31 at 22%.
Catterick - 15:45: Back Tom Cody
Tom Cody was a horse who impressed me at a low level when he scored over fences at Newcastle in December, and he followed up the win with an even better success at Wetherby on Boxing Day.
He travelled so strongly in those two races, in particular at Newcastle in heavy, so I was surprised he couldn't chisel out another win in two starts afterwards
The 8yo ran over CD last time in bottomless ground behind Val Dancer (who was well backed), and went down fighting. He is lightly raced and acts in the ground, and I give him another chance for the excellent Rebecca Menzies.
