Alan Dudman looks at Newmarket's Sunday card and is excited about Anmaat and Queen Of Fairies in a Sportsbook multiple...

Anmaat set for a top level season

13:15 Newmarket - Group 3 Gordon Richards Stakes

Back Anmaat @ 11/4

One horse I've been looking forward to seeing at the Guineas meeting has been Anmaat, and he's got the ability to make up into a Group 1 performer, today he faces a stern challenge in the opening 13:15 in the shape of Adayar.

Adayar is top class and stays 1m4f well, so whether the Derby winner's best trip will be today's 1m2f is the angle to attempt to take him on.

Anmaat has a top cruising speed and his 1m2f victory in France at the end of last season saw him win in heavy conditions. Indeed, when he landed the Rose Of Lancaster last term, his trainer Owen Burrows thought that the juice in the ground really suited him.

One other key factor for the 5yo is that he goes well fresh, and while it's tough to give 5lbs to a Derby winner, the entry in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes for Royal Ascot shows that connections feel he is up to this sort of level.

Queen for Buick to step up again

14:25 Newmarket - Howden Pretty Polly Stakes

Back Queen Of Fairies @ 10/3

While Blue Point is a sire everyone seems to be raving about at the moment, Cracksman is one who is excelling from last season and he injects plenty of pace in his runners. They also seem to be big strong types, and Queen Of Fairies certainly had the physique of a big old unit on her debut at Southwell.

And like many Cracksman offspring, she looked quite raw and green for her first start.

She overcame the inexperience to win easily in a what looked a good novice race for the track and greenness was still evident in the race.

Her two quickest sectionals came in the final part of the race and she fairly ate up the ground with her big stride.

I can see Newmarket suiting her, and she'll have no issue going up in trip to 1m2f.

Pedigree-wise she's related to the top drawer Teofilio and she also has an entry for the 1m4f Ribblesdale at the Royal Meeting, and this could be a perfect step into a higher grade. She looks up to it.

William Buick is on, and no one rides HQ better than the Godolphin number one.
