Newcastle - 19:15 - Back Hydration

Newcastle's Racing League fixture tonight provides the best betting opportunities by far with not only field sizes and Extra Place Specials on the Sportsbook, but also quality, as Bath is on today, and it's difficult to get excited about any race there.

Hydration has been progressing well this term and has a good enough position with the draw in nine to be a player for this.

The 3yo is lightly-rated on the All-Weather at 1-1 and his sole start thus far a winning one at Kempton, and with his Tapeta debut, his sire Oasis Dream is 11% win and 24% placed at Newcastle to offer some hope he'll be fine on the surface.

He also has a bit of stamina for this stiff track, as he landed a Ffos Las victory earlier in the season prefacing a win in heavy at Doncaster last time over the 6f. It's a long old straight at Donny, but off the even pace (with a finishing speed of just over 98%), he strongly finished off his race on the near side.

His trainer Roger Charlton is by no means enjoying a stellar season, but his 3yos have been better and a 4lb higher mark for a progressive horse at 6s can hopefully get us in the frame. It's also an Extra Place Special on the Sportsbook.

Newcastle - 20:15 - Back Tosen Wish

We stick with the Racing League and a cracking 1m Handicap at 20:15, and as I backed Tosen Wish last time at the Galway Festival, I will keep him in the punting thoughts for trainer Ado McGuinness.

McGuinness has been an excellent edition to this competition this term, and he is a trainer I like backing with his handicappers anyway.

Tosen Wish was part of the Ado mammoth team in that Galway race in the BMW Mile, and Tosen Wish wasn't beaten too far at around 5L in the testing ground. He missed the break and was always on the backfoot, and he was also short of room for good measure. That's Galway.

He's down a couple of pounds and cheekpieces are applied for the first time this evening.

In his sole appearance on the AW so far (with a win at Dundalk), he clocked a good time, and he does seem to finish his races off well and strong.

He was beaten 3L in his seasonal reappearance at Cork in a Premier Handicap off 89, and off a 5lb lower mark with an excellent draw in 10, McGuinness can eek out a big pot here.
