Saturday picks priced at 9/110.00 and 9/25.50
Haydock - 16:10 - Back Tarrabb
Trainer Owen Burrows is enjoying something of a purple patch at the moment, and the handler, who is 4-6 at 67% in the last fortnight has a decent priced runner in the shape of Tarrabb at Haydock.
She was a double figure price at 11/112.00 on the Sportsbook, but was cut to 9s this morning for the Listed Dick Hern over 1m and she's had a nice break since running well at Royal Ascot and should be a force here.
Tarrabb finished third in the Kensington Palace Fillies' Handicap last time, a race where the pace was fast early on, and that could have been her undoing as the winner came from further back with a strong final sectional under Colin Keane, but Tarrabb kept on from a tight position on the inside.
I am not sure it was the greatest ride in the world on her, especially as she was so short of room, but off 91 that day, she deserves a crack at Listed level.
Jason Watson takes over from William Buick, and a return to Haydock will suit her as she landed a Sunday Series Handicap over CD last term, a race where the form has been franked with the second running successfully at a higher level.
An each-way price, Tarrabb can hopefully continue the form of the Burrows yard.
Newmarket - 16:50 - Back Wind In Your Sails
We head to Newmarket for the Saturday's second selection, and the closing 1m Handicap at Newmarket at 16:50 looks there for taking.
Sniper's Eye switches to a handicap for the first time off 82, and ran well in a CD novice last time, but I struggle a bit with the trainer David Simcock, and the price has gone a little short now from 11/43.75 into 9/43.25.
I am happy to give another chance to Ralph Beckett's Wind In Your Sails, who had no chance from an awful position at Chester last time.
We can effectively write that race off as a blow out, as she was given far too much to do against the win machine Sparks Fly.
She was up in trip on that occasion to 1m3f, but Hector Crouch was never in a position to challenge at all, even more frustrating for backers that day as previously she had made the running.
Wind In Your Sails drops back down to 1m today, so there are no excuses in terms of trip, and hopefully no excuses in terms of tactics as she could make the running.
She has been keen in her races to date, and while she will stay 1m2+ down the line, that keenness is holding her back slightly, but she has a good pedigree and the ground shouldn't be an issue.
The selection could be a little better than her mark of 80, and minus Chester last time, she should run a better race at 9/25.50.
