Flash Man should be able to finish in the placings in what appears a modest novices' hurdle. The Toby Lawes-trained runner ran a promising second here last time under a penalty following a good win at Plumpton. A repeat performance this time ought to be good enough.
I was taken by Chartwell Jock's running-on third at Plumpton last time. The Churchill gelding was making his first handicap outing that day, and he would have won if not making a mistake at the last hurdle. He is unexposed, races over a longer trip here, and he has been left on the same handicap mark.
Minnie Hauk is the standout selection in the Group 1 Gold Cup. The daughter of Frankel is already a three-time Group 1 winner - including a dual Oaks scorer - and made a pleasing return to action, when winning a Group 2 decisively. A reproduction of that effort may prove good enough, but I expect her to show further improvement from a stable whose runners often come on for their reappearance run.
Precise was reported to have not had a straightforward preparation for the Group 1 1000 Guineas at Newmarket where she finished seventh despite being strong in the market. She ran averagely, but did give the impression that she can improve dramatically with that run under her belt. I expect her to prove much better than that effort, especially having already shown her Group 1 ability last season.
