Goodwood Festival Daily Horse Racing Multiple: Richard and Roger to strike on the downs

Nothing says Goodwood better than a Panama hat

"Quick ground suits, but he has clearly been a bit fragile or hard to train, but it's encouraging he is turning around so quickly after the Royal meeting." Back Legend Of Dubai @ 7.513/2 in the 13:50 at Goodwood

Dubai out to right the wrong of Hunt Cup flop

Back Legend Of Dubai @ 7.513/2 in the 13:50 at Goodwood

The fact I fancied Roger Varian's Legend Of Dubai for the Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot - and to see him well-backed that day too, I have to give him another chance to prove his worth in the opening 13:50 at Glorious Goodwood.

He must work like a train, one abroad obviously as most in the UK are late, as he's been sent off favourite on all but one of his career starts.

The regally bred 4yo really looked the part at Newmarket earlier in the season when running ragged a field in 0-90 company by 5L. Carolus Magnus finished second that day and is rated 90, yet he was made to look very moderate as Legend Of Dubai floated around the pack and ended up down the centre.

No sectionals were available that day, but he did record a finishing speed of 111% at Ffos Las on his sole run in 2021 - and that was over 1m4f.

His Hunt Cup effort saw him drop away quickly - plus he over-raced. Quick ground suits, but he has clearly been a bit fragile or hard to train, but it's encouraging he is turning around so quickly after the Royal meeting.

King can be supreme for Hannon

Back Supreme King @ 7.06/1 in the 16:45 at Goodwood

I wouldn't necessarily find winners from the Richard Hannon stable easily, and his yard is hard to work out. Personal punting preferences and all that, but Supreme King looks an interesting juvenile despite his wide draw.

His debut came at Haydock recently - a race in which he was sent off 5/2F, but he was no match for an impressive winner of Roger Charlton's called Batal Dubai - who displayed a splendid turn of foot.

The going description had some good in it, but once again sectional timing was not available. But to my eye, the ground looked a bit easier and divots were being kicked up. Supreme King was down the centre and Batal Dubai was a long way away over the far side, so there's every chance he was on a quicker part of the track.

Supreme King didn't do an awful lot wrong and was matched at 2.01/1 in-running finishing second. His draw in a big field does make like a bit complicated, but we can play each-way using the extra places on the Sportsbook.
