The Galway marathon starts on Monday and Alan has a big priced multiple

Alan Dudman had a winner with the well-backed Poker Face landing the big race yesterday and he is looking for a double on Monday at Galway...

Galway - 18:40 - Back Maze Runner

Galway on Monday starts the marathon - although I am here for just one day as I am off for the week and leaving you in the very capable hands of Mark Milligan - but hopefully we can depart on a high by finding a winner from a fierce 2m1f Premier Handicap.

Indeed, when the prices were up on Sunday afternoon, Maze Runner was one of a number backed from 16/117.00 into 11/112.00.

Dutch Schultz was also a 25/126.00 into 14/115.00 mover, while the wily Tony Martin's reserve Nibiru was cut from 33/134.00 into 14/115.00 so keep on eye how that one fares if running.

In terms of the selection, Maze Runner is a 135-rated hurdler and a handy Flat performer, and I think he can still improve from his rating of 92 to be competitive here - and with the extra place on offer, we can go each-way.

He ran in a decent handicap last time won by Safecracker, and while he wasn't beaten far with a 7L loss, the 1m4f on quick ground was far too much of a speed test for a horse who has raced over 3m.

A return to a more stamina-testing trip is a big plus, as are the soft conditions too. He finished second in the race 12 months ago in a Willie Mullins one-two, with Dutch Schultz in third. He was drawn in 22 last season with the winner in 21, proving the wide berths can be overcome.

Charlie Mullins also claims 7lbs.

Galway - 19:15 - Back Coolcalmncollected

Another of the Extra Place Specials for Galway on Monday and another wide draw with Coolcalmandcolledted at 16/117.00.

To say this horse has been an eyecatcher this term is something of an understatement. The jockey on the last two efforts has been the champion Colin Keane, but even his soothing hands weren't able to magic a good start last time as he came from a long way back in rear at Naas and met plenty of trouble in the final two furlongs.

He was previously out the back over an inadequate 5f at Navan on his first run of the season on his previous start, and ran pretty well from a horrid draw and poor position.

I like the angle of him stepping up to 7f as he has finished with running left in him on his last two starts, and he is very much unexposed from 77.

We have four places with the 15 runners and it will be fascinating to see which way he goes in the betting on Monday with Shane Foley taking over from Keane.
