Fourteen runners for the 18:40 7f at Tipp' tonight, and a chance to utilise the extra place with four on offer on the Sportsbook, so it was good to see Linger For Longer was on the popular side this morning from 12/113.00 into 10/111.00 then 9/110.00.
She is still without a win in 13 attempts, and the trainer Augustine Leahy is still probably scratching the head in terms of finding Linger For Longer's best trip, as she's raced at every distance from 5f to 1m2f.
The selection is a real mixed bag too in terms of tactics, but she has finished well on several occasions.
She collected third at Tipperary over 5f when finishing on the near side over a trip that saw her get outpaced early (unsurprisingly), and she finished second at the track last summer over 1m1f.
Perhaps the 7f distance will suit her best, but she goes at the track and isn't ground dependant, so we should get a run out of her.
Another big field with 16 in the line-up for the closing 20:20, and a wide-open race with Dermot Weld's Pale Moonlight favourite - and probably fav as the horse is trained by Weld, but she's limited and the Rosewell Master is throwing the headgear dice with her this evening.
I will look elsewhere and Wild Shot is a runner I have put up before in the column.
The 9yo has winning form at the track, although it does seem a long time ago now back in 2021, but it was over CD on quick ground and won with a bit in hand.
He's usually a hold-up performer and the excellent apprentice Siobhan Rutledge maintains the ride having finished fourth on him last time out at Down Royal - his best run of the year.
Well treated off a mark of 55, plus the claim, he'll stay well.
