The closing race on Lingfield's Friday card is an interesting handicap for a class 5 affair, and Roger Varian's Pillarsofcreation makes plenty of appeal as she steps into handicaps for the first time.

A nicely bred daughter of Roaring Lion, she showed plenty of promise in the early part of the year, notably when third to the smart Canberra Legend in a novice contest at Newcastle on her second start.

Below that form on her next outing at Newmarket in April, it's probably fair to assume all was not well that day as she's been off the track since, but she's in good hands to bounce back, particularly as layoffs are not usually a concern with runners from this yard.

With plenty of stamina in her pedigree, the step up 1m 2f for the first time should be very much in this one's favour and I fancyher chances of getting off the mark on handicap debut.

Wolverhampton - 19:15 - Ezmerellda

It could well be that Ezmerellda's long-term future lies over hurdles given she's trained by Alan King, but she has a lovely flat pedigree and I'm sure connections will be aiming to get a win out of her on the level before deciding to go down that route.

The lightly-raced daughter of Intello has shaped encouragingly to date and produced her best effort when fourth over 1m 4f at this track on her most recent start, shaping as if an even greater emphasis on stamina would be a benefit.

She gets that this evening as she steps up to 1m 6f in a field of largely exposed handicappers, and it would be disappointing if she can't find a bit more improvement.

The selection will likely stay further than this in time too and could well be the sort to run up a sequence in low-level staying handicaps on the all-weather, with the hope being that she can kick that off in style here.
