Alan's day is calling following Scottish effort
Back Mr Alan @ 5.04/1 in the 15:30 at Nottingham
Somewhat galling with John Gosden mentioned as a headgear stat with the hood on Monday and both selections blew out, only for the Clarehaven Master to hit two winners yesterday including Audience in the.....guess what? First-time hood. At 12/1 too at Leicester.
On to Wednesday and the 3yos mix it with the older horses in the 15:30 1m2f Handicap and the soft conditions at Colwick Park will stretch the stamina out.
Mr Alan will have no such worries with the trip, as he attempted 1m6f recently, albeit at York on quick ground, but he'll have his optimum conditions today as he saw out the 1m4f at Chester well too.
Gelded in the summer, there was an element of very much getting back on track at Ayr last time, although he hit 1.21/5 in-running and was denied in not only being hemmed in down the straight, but the photo-finish was very close with Yorkshire Lady - who just got her nose on the line when it mattered.
Mr Alan travelled super down the straight, and about five wide was going best of all and there still is a decent handicap in him from a mark of 92.
Andrea Atzeni is on the cold list at the moment, but he dons the Amo Racing silks today, which could be a sign of things to come. AA's record at Nottingham this term is 5-19 and shows a healthy +20.33 profit from his 26% strike-rate.
Wade can be the win machine for Wednesday
Back Wade's Magic @ 4.7515/4 in the 17:15 at Nottingham
As a fan long-term follower of the old warhorse Golden Apollo, I'm still miffed I failed to back him for both his recent wins at prices of 18/1 and 9/1, but the heart has been uplifted rather than the wallet, although I would rather the latter.
Wade's Magic has been very strong in the betting this morning and I am hoping a deserved success awaits following a consistent campaign as he is floating around on a very dangerous mark these days of 60.
This will be his 44th run in his career, but his consistency is testament to not only his toughness, but also Easterby's ability to get him to run to a figure week in week out.
The draw and a poor start scuppered his chances last time at Ripon over 6f and he ran well at Catterick in September coming from further back than ideal.
A drop to 5f presents no problems as he has winning form in heavy, and jockey Sean Kirrane is 1-4 at Nottingham this term. His stats combined with Easterby at all tracks reads 12% win and 33% placed - and this is also an Extra Place Special on the Sportsbook.
