Alan Dudman's sole runner yesterday won at a BSP of 6.54 and he is going with a big priced each-way multiple for Friday...

  • Moon Hunter was a 6.54 winner yesterday

  • Taking a chance on Williams drifter on Friday

  • Today's two multiple runners pay out a huge 203/1 on the Sportsbook for an each-way double

  • Big drift out to 16s for a Williams' hurdler

Back Sonnemoser @ 17.016/1 each-way in the 13:30 at Haydock

Moon Hunter was a gutsy winner for the column yesterday, and once again drifted to a nice BSP out to 6.54277/50 to claim the scalp of Theatre Man. The second pick was a non runner unfortunately, so the wait goes on with Omar Maretti but we'll take it going into Friday's action.

Haydock's card has some good horses on show for the afternoon, including Crystal Glory in a match, so we'll leave that alone for a bet, but I'll be watching him with interest.

We'll take a bit of a shot at an Evan Williams novice again, as the market drift from 7/1 to 16/1 this morning surely looks overpriced for an each-way dart with Sonnemoser.

The 5yo has had a couple of runs over hurdles and got off to a disastrous start at Southwell in the spring when falling early in a race won by Mr Washington. He then came back for the new season with a solid second (beaten nearly 8L) at Ffos Las in November in soft conditions, and might just have appreciated the softer ground on that occasion.

That came over 2m, a test far too short as he was outpaced and was never really positioned to get himself to win the race with a hold-up ride. But the confidence would have been restored after his Southwell mishap.

The dam Rainallday has produced five jumpers and two have won - both in testing ground and with Haydock heavy more of a test than anywhere else, I am taking a punt that he'll enjoy the slop a bit more than the others. Especially with the staying ability further down the line, as he already looks a horse waiting for 2m4f.

With 11 runners, he is 15/8 for three places on the Sportsbook.

Peejaybee looking to right a Carlisle wrong

Back Peejaybee @ 11.010/1 each-way in the 14:00 at Haydock

A 0-130 2m5f Handicap Chase for the second pick, and Peejaybee is surely better than his chase debut last time in a decent-looking Novice at Carlisle recently? He was beaten 27L and looked in need of the run, so we can excuse that as he had looked a progressive hurdler over 2m4f.

He landed a 2m4f Handicap at Sandown last season in impressive fashion and followed up with penalty at Sedgefield - and on both occasions he travelled supremely well.

It's a slight worry he didn't quite last home back at Sandown for the Grade 3 Final in Mach over 24mf, as once again he went through the race well.

But he's back to a more suitable trip today as Carlisle last month was an inadequate 2m, and with the 11 runners we have the three places too.
