Daily Racing Multiple: Shanghai and Laugh A Minute to surprise at Dundlak

Trainer Ado McGuinness
Trainer Ado McGuinnes has a couple of runners that feature in Alan's Friday night Dundalk double

Alan Dudman picked out 17/2 winner Pennymoor for his second decent price success in two days and his double search takes him to Dundalk this evening...

  • Pennymoor won at 17/2 for yesterday's first leg
  • Can McGuinness produce some magic tonight?
  • Al Dudman is backing a 76/1 Sportsbook double at Dundalk using the Extra Place Special on Friday

Laugh A Minute a big price to go one better than last year

Back Laugh A Minute each-way @ 8.515/2 in the 18:00 at Dundalk

Pennymoor delivered yesterday to win at 17/2, and once again the second selection halved in price to finish out of the money. Fourth would have been nice for the each-way, but it's two decent winners at 8.88/1 and 9.517/2 in two days, here's hoping the second one can land.

Laugh A Minute's been in the column just as much as me, and while he is very well handicapped (still), I cannot resist an each-way play on the horse who surely has got to win again before the year is out from an attractive mark?

Ado McGuinness' 7yo hasn't won at Dundalk in nine attempts, but he is a better horse than his 0-9 record here suggests and he did finish second in this race 12 months ago off 95 and he is 3lb lower this evening. He ran very keen early in that, and got too far behind too early - which is never ideal at Dundalk.

If Ronan Whelan can push him out early, he'll have the pace to run at from his inside position of three, and he has posted some solid efforts in defeat this season - including his places in big fields at Galway and the Curragh.

This is wide open and his 15/2 price might drift too, so he's an each-way option on a card where there are some short priced favourites with Amortentia at 13/8 and Las Cautro at 5/2.

Take a chance on Caffrey to surprise with Shanghai

Back Pulse Of Shanghai @ 9.08/1 in the 19:00 at Dundalk

Adam Caffrey gave Magnetic North a cracking ride recently as one of the selections at a near 20/1 price to finish second, and the apprentice is on another McGuinness' runner tonight in Pulse Of Shangai, and he has no such problems around Dundalk as a four-time course winner.

He's quite a speedy horse over 7f, so that pace could be critical early here to lay up early, and I wouldn't totally rule out the yard's Inflection Point either at 40/1, and you can play two in the same race on the Sportsbook to place in a multiple. Inflection Point certainly stays well and has winning form here.

Pulse Of Shangahi started the year off a mark of 93, so it highlights how badly out of sorts he has been as he is now running from 78.

The 1m and stamina is clearly a bit of a problem as he has raced over sprint trips, but he ran well over 7f at Down Royal recently to keep him onside, and was also have the Extra Place Special for this on the Sportsbook to get four places.

Caffrey is 4-27 at the course this season and around 14%, which isn't a bad record for an apprentice.
