Daily Racing Multiple: Nostrum and Tarhib the double pair for Newmarket

Newmarket
It's Newmarket time for Alan Dudman as he looks at two of the races on Thursday for his Sportsbook double

Alan Dudman is playing a 13/1 double at Newmarket on Thursday following another single winner yesterday...

Tarhib looks one to keep on progressing

Back Tarhib @ 4.3100/30 in the 14:25 at Newmarket

Kaif was another single winner for the column yesterday and was a big drifter too out to 11/4. At least we called the price on Gracelands Girl who looked a poor favourite too, and she was unplaced. That's now 24 winners in the recent run and I am confident we can add to that tally again.

It's another fairly short price duo for Thursday and the focus is very much on quality.

Tarhib can kick us off at a decent price of 4.3100/30 in the 14:25 at Newmarket.

Despite her hefty price tag (over 1,000,000 gns), she looks a horse on the up. And while she is never going to live up to the cost, she travelled so well at Yarmouth last time after an interrupted career, she can land this today from her new mark of 88.

The 4yo filly does like ease in the ground, and I am hoping Newmarket had the watering can out last night. Expect her to move stylishly through the race and she could still be well treated from a 5lb higher mark.

Nostrum could be the class act in HQ feature

Back Nostrum @ 3.211/5 in the 15:00 at Newmarket

Sir Michael Stoute has landed the Group 3 Tattersalls Stakes in the 80s and 90s previously and Nostrum looks a good one to add to the roll of honour.

Traditionally this isn't one of Newmarket's strongest Pattern races, and with a small field, it lacks any depth with a complete outsider.

Nostrum was impressive (and not fancied in the betting) winning on debut at Sandown, and that looked a good race on paper with a Godolphin runner trying to make the running.

The times suggested good ground that day, and the attractive 2yo really stretched out impressively despite running green down the straight. Holloway Boy and Victory Dance have ratings of 109 and 104 respectively, so despite the threadbare field, it certainly is well above average.

The selection will have to run to a big figure here, but he could improve a fair bit considering his size and inexperience. Stoute has only had a pair of juvenile turf winners in 2022, and he was one of them. I don't mind the drift either this morning on the Sportsbook.
