Moffatt has a very nice hurdling prospect after Hexham win
Back Bingoo @ 3.7511/4 in the 14:15 at Catterick
It seems it hasn't stopped raining over the last few days, certainly down south where I am, and that's the case for Yorkshire where heavy ground awaits at Catterick. More showers are on the way so this afternoon won't be pretty.
Bingoo's heavy ground Hexham success over hurdles last time will stand him in good stead for the extreme conditions and I am looking for a stamina-laden performance from the James Moffatt runner to see off the 6/4 favourite and hat-trick seeking General Officer.
The 7yo scored on his hurdling debut at Hexham in November over 2m, and readers will know how I like Hexham form translating to northern tracks elsewhere as you need to stay and usually it's a real test there. I don't mind the drift either from 9/4 this morning out to 11/4.
I was impressed with his Hexham effort, and the time figure warrants an upgrade too. The hurdler had a nice pace to run at there with Mildam going off too hard and setting up the race lovely, as Bingoo ate up the ground over the far side into the turn and cruised into the lead.
His jump at the last was more of a guessy one rather than any inherent fluency problems, but I admired the way he got back on the bit to stay on.
He looked a nice prospect with that run and he'll enjoy stepping up to 2m4f today for his second run over hurdles even if it's a sharper track.
He previously had landed a bumper at Hexham in the spring, and that looked well above average for the track as the second and third have both boosted the form. The runner-up is rated 127 now and the third has subsequently scored by 7L.
A Different Kind won this 12 months ago and this looks a decent race.
Forget Haydock run for Bowes, who can bounce back in the ground
Back Lady Bowes @ 6.05/1 in the 15:25 at Catterick
Moffatt could be in for a good day with stable jockey Charlotte Jones and Lady Bowes should be excused for her comeback effort at Haydock recently and appeals at 5/1.
The Haydock reappearance was her first run for 274 days and given she was held up and jumped poorly, it's very much a run to forget and the lack of match practise looked an issue.
She had previously fallen four from home over CD last March in soft, and was still planning to have a say with an in-running price at 4.57/2 the lowest she had gone, and indeed a price shorter than her BSP that day. Schalke won it, and Schalke recently hacked up in testing conditions by 7L off 116.
The 9yo stays well and has winning form in heavy ground at Hexham. She is down again in the weights from 105 to 102 after her Haydock comeback and cheekpieces remain.
