Daily Racing Multiple: Friday and Vaults to excel in Thursday Ayr double

Trainer David O'Meara
David O'Meara won't be needing the top hat and tails at Ayr today
  • Second and third yesterday with near misses
  • City Vaults fancied dropping down in trip
  • Our multiple tipster Al Dudman picks out a 32/1 double on Thursday for Ayr

Friday to make it a good Thursday

Back Black Friday @ 11.010/1 each-way in the 15:00 at Ayr

A second place and third yesterday was the best we could manage, although I was surprised Willem Twee didn't go shorter than 2.47/5 in-running.

On with Thursday, and rain is in the air which means a thorough test at Ayr. I like Black Friday at a price, and have included him as a bet in today's Daily Racing News column.

Mike Smith's 7yo looks too well treated to ignore considering he is down to 78 from a season-starting mark of 89.

Ayr 6f horses on soft ground need to stay a bit further for me, and Black Friday not only goes well here, but also sees out a 1m well enough. His stamina could be crucial if heavy gets into the description.

He was second over CD in a 0-95 behind Lampang at the start of the season, and this looks far easier despite the 0-85 grade. With a win on soft and a potential front-running performance, he can outrun his odds.

Expect another big win for Vaults

Back City Vaults @ 3.1085/40 in the 17:15 at Ayr

City Vaults was just about the easiest winner I have ever picked out for the Multiples' column with his success at Redcar last month. In fact, it was my birthday too and he was one of the best presents I received as he coasted to a near 4L win.

If you had told me that day that he'd race again from just 64 back on the turf, I would have snapped your hands off to take the bet, and remember, he was a big drifter that day too.

The defeat at Chelmsford somewhat clouds the issue as he finished second last time and was turned over at odds-on. However, Chelsmford can be a track where you can get taken off your feet, but I personally didn't think he stayed the 2m there.

Back down in distance to 1m5f looks ideal, and I can see the long straight at Ayr really suiting his style. His trainer David O'Meara has a 17% strike-rate at the track this term with Danny Tudhope also holding an 18% win rate and 40% placed for the yard at Ayr, so I won't give up on him just yet. Especially after 2m.
