Row in with Regatta in a winnable race

Back Regatta Queen @ 5.04/1 in the 17:30 at Wolverhampton

Not a bad week for the column from the last seven days with 10/1 and 9/1 included in the four singles' winners from Sunday to Sunday and four of the selections hitting places at decent prices.

Yesterday we landed the each-way double across Fontwell and Cheltenham with a small return, and the fourth of I See You Well at a BSP of 36.0 really brought into play the Sportsbook's Extra Place Special. And it was good to see Micheal Nolan riding fully out for fourth - it does make a difference!

The small fields in the jumping department hardly lends itself to each-way bets today, so Wolverhampton is under scrutiny for Monday night and Regatta Queen has very solid claims in the 7f Novice at 17:30.

The favourite Saorla is well exposed and was drifting from 15/8 to 5/2 this morning, and the fact she is rated a paltry 65 means I want to take that one on. My ballpark figure to win this sort of contest would be around 76. I am hoping Regatta Queen can improve on her second start to run to a figure near that. That could see her home.

She was in a nonsense race last time behind a Godolphin horse at 1/16, but she is better judged on her Chepstow debut behind Night Battle - another 1/16 shot. She made a race of it at least, and Night Battle is rated 85 and has since raced in Listed company - albeit well beaten.

The 3yo also finished 4l off Kingori at Lingfield in September. That was over 1m and she didn't see out the trip, so dropping to a sharp 7f with a fair enough draw looks enough to make her of interest.

The selection is only rated 60 herself, so it's a bad race, but as she's been vulnerable to anything half-decent in her three races, I am not sure there is anything half-decent in this field. The favourite was beaten 9L last time and now runs after wind surgery and with a tongue-tie.

Documenting can make up for luckless Lingfield effort

Thankfully the quality is raised for the following 18:00 - and the best race on the card at 0-105 level. This is a real good old fashioned battle at the top of the market with course and distance forces Street Kid and Documenting. Preference is for the latter who was unlucky at Lingfield last time.

He was given far too much to do in a similar class of 7f Handicap - and it looked a good race for the time of year. It suited those that raced up with the pace, and Documenting was a long way out the back, very wide and then switched to the inner behind two horses. Street Kid was second in that race, but Documenting can turn the form around granted a clearer passage.

Documenting ran an 11.04 sectional in the closing stages, which was one of the quickest in the field.

He's a good solid horse on the AW with six places and six wins from his 22 starts.
