Blue can set a shining example for Leicester feature
Back Shining Blue @ 7.06/1 in the 16:50 at Leicester
Saeed bin Suroor's Shining Blue looked a very handy runner with potential when winning at Newcastle earlier in the season; beating a horse into second that day in 0-105 company who is now rated 103 (La Tihaty). The third is now rated 97 too and it looked a decent piece of form at the time.
The 4yo was a little keen but saw out the 1m well off a steady pace, clocking a couple of below 12 seconds sectionals towards the end of the race and a finishing speed of 105%. He'll have no issues with the drop to 7f today and he could want decent ground.
He is a huge, attractive gelding with plenty of presence, and he holds track winning CD too and cruised in the race to score at the track as a novice earlier this summer.
Expect him to sit handy on the pace.
Danny Tudhope rides for the Godolphin man, and the duo are 100% here with their 1-1 record. He looks on a good mark from 97 too and could be one for Dubai as his dam is a half-sister to the great Folk.
Haggas Kingman filly worth taking a chance on
Back Tairann @ 7.06/1 in the 17:20 at Leicester
I am never one to shy away from backing a newcomer, especially from the William Haggas' yard. His team could not be in better form as he looks to seal a much-deserved trainers' title. His placing of horses is exceptional - although it always helps having the owners who spend millions.
His 3yo filly Tairann is by Kingman, a sire who already stands for 150k a pop and proving to be elite already, and Tairann's half-sister Tamaamm got close to Baaeed on just the second run. That horse was blessed with good acceleration and it seems to be a trait of these Kingmans - like father like son and daughter.
Haggas hit four winners from his last four runners yesterday at Yarmouth and Musselburgh and has a 22% win record with his 3yos at Leicester.
Bling On The Music is the favourite and while his form is more established, a rating of 83 means he is beatable. Just the sort of race I like with a well-bred filly against a market leader that has had plenty of goes.
It's a miler's pedigree and with decent ground, I am happy to go in at 6s or 7s.
