Daily Racing Multiple: Back a newcomer and a sprinter for 10/1 Wednesday double

Kempton
It's Kempton tonight for Alan, who looks at one of the best races on the card for his second leg of the Wednesday double

"He looked the part winning over CD in August with a silky win, and at that stage held an entry in the Group 1 Sprint for Champions' Day at Ascot."

Back Willem Twee @ 4.3100/30 in the 19:30 at Kempton

  • Another first and second for our tipster yesterday
  • Willem Twee can bounce back after Ascot
  • Our multiple tipster Al Dudman picks out a near-10/1 double on Wednesday for Kempton

Law can go higher for Charlie on debut

Back Higher Law @ 2.56/4 in the 17:50 at Kempton

Another first and second yesterday for the column - a third in four days with that particular set-up. Three doubles missed by narrow margins means it's close, but I can't argue with horses not running to form. Hurtle at least put his experience to very good use in a poor Brighton contest to win at 2/1.

Higher Law was always going to feature in my punting lexicon for the day as a newcomer for Charlie Appleby. He is 5-13 at 38% with his All-Weather 2yos, and as a son of Certify, not only should be half-decent, but he is bred to win as a juvenile considering his mother was impressive to win on her first start, and she went on to win her next three races too as a 2yo.

Appleby won this race in 2019 with Desert Peace, and has a 35% strike-rate here over five seasons. Which is okay I guess.

His 6/4 price isn't too exciting, but this doesn't look a strong race at all, and I would be surprised if he didn't go to 5/4 or evens.

Twee the up-and-comer for Kempton feature

Back Willem Twee @ 4.3100/30 in the 19:30 at Kempton

The James Fanshawe-trained Willem Twee is one of my bets in today's Daily Racing News column, and while he has to improve on bare form, I think he has the makings of a 100-plus performer on the All Weather.

He looked the part winning over CD in August with a silky win, and at that stage held an entry in the Group 1 Sprint for Champions' Day at Ascot.

Connections had a go at the Berkshire venue last time - maybe as a fact-finding mission? And while he ran well, soft ground looked to have blunted his speed and his finishing kick wasn't quite there.

The 3yo is happy on the AW and completely unexposed too, and considering he stays 7f well and travels so easily, this tactically could work out wonderfully with fast horse First Folio set to make the running to give our selection a nice lead. Both are drawn 1 and 2.
