Alan Dudman had two placed efforts yesterday with both finishing second at Ayr. His double quest takes him to Dundalk on Wednesday with a 40/1 pair...
No Annecherie so Chutzpal comes into the frame
Back Chutzpal each-way @ 5/1 in the 13:20 at Dundalk
A day of seconds yesterday for the column with both Gentleman De Mai and Jets Legs in the runner-up spot.
The latter travelled well before the straight but was outstayed by the old slugger Prince Dundee, while Gentleman De Mai ran a quirky race but looked every inch a thorough stayer in the end.
For good measure I backed Lunar Discovery in the Bumper late on, and she just would not go past and was touched off a nose. Yep, another second.
In the opener, I quite fancied Annecherie to run into a place looking at the prices last night at 20/1. She was backed too this morning into 12s so that had gone, and indeed she was soon after as she was a non-runner at around 9am.
Chutzpal at 5/1 looks more of a win selection and Hugh Horgan is very much a man in form at the moment with 3-9 at 33% and a small profit of +3.55 in the last month.
And a profit from rides at Dundalk isn't the easiest with the amount of rides they have around the Dalk.
Eoin Doyle's 4yo is lightly-raced for his age and completely unexposed at the distance. The 2m suited him well when he scored for a different trainer in November, and made his debut for Doyle earlier this month after a break with an effort over 1m4f.
That doesn't look his trip now as he was always outpaced in that, and he'll be happier up to 2m again this afternoon.
He is better making the running or being up with the speed as his two best efforts came with those tactics.
River to flow again with fine course record
Back Theriverrunsdeep each-way @ 13/2 in the 14:20 at Dundalk
Theriverrunsdeep has a fine course record around Dundalk as she is 3-7 here, yet 0-15 on the turf so she has very much found her calling and should give a good account of herself again in the 14:20.
She hasn't won for a while, in fact her last success came in December 2021 from a mark of 63 and her five efforts on turf last summer were all poor save for a second at Listowel over the extended 6f.
But with her turf record anyway, we can forget those runs.
Her latest two efforts have been better - beaten 3L and 4l and she was bumped at the start in one of those and missed the break on both occasions.
Last time out she was on the wrong part of the track on the inside anyway, and had no chance despite the blinkers returning.
James Ryan is another apprentice on a selection with his 7lb and he needs her in a better early position as they tend to race quickly into the first bend from the 6f start.
