Daily Racing Multiple: Gherkin and Wine on the double menu for Friday

Goodwood
Goodwood stages its first meeting of the year and Alan's second leg runs there

"The data threw up quite a strongly run race - especially at the start, and Wineglass Bay certainly saw out it well. Stepping up to 1m will suit him judged on that, and the race has been boosted with four winners coming out of that December race."

Back Wineglass Bay @ 3.02/1 in the 16:25 at Goodwood

Alan Dudman picked out a 6/1 winner on Thursday and he returns for Friday's action with a 12/1 Sportsbook multiple...

Gherkin looks a tasty bet back on the all-weather

Back Gherkin @ 10/3 in the 14:15 at Wolverhampton

Viadelamore scored for the column yesterday at a decent 6/1, but Just Hiss couldn't quite do it, but he was well-backed and also hit 2.01/1 in-running. The search for that second winner takes us to Wolves and Goodwood today.

The 14:15 is a fairly low-grade affair, but Gherkin is in consistent form and ran well when finishing second at Windsor last time out.

That was a fair run on good to soft ground, and it was also his first outing off a 150-day break considering he was off one of his highest marks.

He won a race in the winter at Kempton picking through rivals coming from off the pace, and Wolverhampton could suit him as he likes to come through the field. He might need a bit of luck, but at this sort of level, he is a handy runner.

Gherkin also looks a better horse on the all-weather, and with the blinkers back on, he should go well for trainer Stuart Kittow, whose recent runners haven't been winning, but they haven't been beaten far.

Wineglass can be the toast at Goodwood

Back Wineglass Bay @ 2/1 in the 16:25 at Goodwood

A couple catch the eye for the 3yo handicap over 1m, and my shortlist of Wodeton and Wineglass Bay are the two to follow, but such is the good form of the James Ferguson yard (with a 6/1 winner for the column yesterday) that Wineglass Bay gets the nod.

He had three quick runs at the backend of last winter and finished second (ahead of Wodeton) at Kempton behind a Godolphin horse and followed up with a win at Southwell next time - again with a Charlie Appleby horse in the mix, but on that occasion he was ahead of the favourite that day Yantarni.

The data threw up quite a strongly run race - especially at the start, and Wineglass Bay certainly saw it out well. Stepping up to 1m will suit him judged on that, and the race has been boosted with four winners coming out of that December contest. Considering that, his mark doesn't look too bad at 83 for his handicap debut.

He acts on soft, but the ground is never lightning fast at Goodwood and with Ferguson at 4-7 at 57%, hopefully we can get our second winner out of the yard in two days.
