Megan Nicholls hosts a day one preview of this year's Cheltenham Festival, with regular guests Daryl Carter and former National Hunt jockey Jerry McGrath joined by Timeform's Dan Barber to look ahead to all seven races on Tuesday...
-
Il Etait Temps the best we've seen so far
-
El Fabiolo v Jonbon in the Arkle Chase
-
Champion Hurdle could be a one-sided affair
With the countdown officially on until the roar returns ahead of The Supreme, we turn the focus to look at all of the races on Day One.
Seven races, plenty of big opinions, tons of insight and some curveballs thrown in by those in the know. A must listen for Festival fans.
Daryl believes Facile Vega is still the right favourite at around 3/1 after losing his unbeaten tag to Il Etait Temps at the Dublin Racing Festival last time, but he also says that the latter deserves more credit and is the best we've seen at this stage.
Jerry also says that Il Etait Temps didn't get the credit he deserved but he wouldn't be backing him at Cheltenham as he says Facile Vega's run was too bad to be true.
Dan meanwhile is massively in the camp of 25/1 outsider Strong Leader. Listen why at the bottom of this page.
The market has flip-flopped in recent weeks with El Fabiolo's win at the Dublin Racing Festival followed by Jonbon's very unimpressive win in a match race (which occured after the recording of this podcast).
In a nutshell, when referrring to El Fabiolo, Daryl simply says, "I think he's an absolute certainty, me", believing that his latest victory was a monsterous effort.

Jerry meanwhile was impressed by Jonbon's fighting spirt when getting the better of El Fabiolo at Aintree last season, and he believes he sets the standard in this race.
Dan agrees that the race should be between the front two in the market as he says third favourite Dysart Dynamo is a horse he always wants to be against.
State Man put his name firmly in the picture for the Champion Hurdle by easily beating Honeysuckle in the Irish equivalent at the Dublin Racing Festival, but the horse they will all have to beat in Tuesday's feature race is the extremely impressive Constitution Hill.
Daryl is a big fan of both State Man and his stable companion Vauban, but he says the former didn't impress him when winning last time and that he believes he won't be any threat to Constitution Hill.
Jerry has a lot of respect for State Man, saying that he doesn't think he was 100% fit in Ireland the last day and that he could improve again at Cheltenham. However, like the rest of the panel, he's firmly in the camp of Constitution Hill.
Dan has no doubt whatsoever that Constitution Hill will prevail, saying that the race could be so one-sided and that the Nicky Henderson runner is the hurdling equivalent of a Sprinter Sacre, he's that good.
The panel alos give their thoughts on the four other races on Tuesday, including providing their best bets of the day. Listen to the full podcast now.
