A January weekeday afternoon at Lingfield might seem an unlikely setting for one of the most eye-catching wins in recent memory but that was what happened for a Betfair racing punter who turned £2 into nearly £5K.
In just over an hour on Wednesday, they landed three winning bets to take home winnings of £4,879 in an extraordinary feat of betting.
They backed Monk's Head, Myna and Manhattan Chute and all three won their races.
Monk's Head was the shortest price, at 3.55/2, with Myna an outsider at 17.016/1 and Manhattan Chute an even longer shot at 41.040/1.
None of the victories came easily, with the selections winning by a nose, a neck and a head, so our punter may have had their heart in the mouth as they headed for the line.
Myna won for the first time in his 17 runs, while for Manhattan Chute it was also a first victory.
The latter came from towards the rear of the field, making headway over one furlong out, before pressing the leader inside the final 110 yards and getting ahead at the finish.
A sensational way to win a race and one that surely resulted in wild celebrations for our big winner and a Lingfield afternoon that will live long in their memory.
