Accidental Agent is overpriced at Royal Ascot
Accidental Agent's rating has gradually been on the slide since the International over C&D last year and it might be that he's just not as good as he was now that he's a nine-year-old but I think he's had other reasons why he's been below form in those races and he could bounce back this afternoon.
He started off last season with a victory at Newmarket and followed that up with a good run in defeat over today's C&D behind Vafortino who he now faces on a stone better terms.
The Queen Anne was understandably too tough for him after that and he followed that with three respectable runs in handicap company including two over this C&D when second of those in the near side group in the first of them and then terribly positioned in a slowly-run race in the second.
Accidental Agent ended up being poorly positioned away from the far rail next time and I thought he ran respectably in the Balmoral when seventh off a 7lb higher mark than he races today.
The test that Lingfield's all weather track provides seemed unlikely to suit him so his final run of last season can be forgiven and I think he's run fairly well on his two starts this year, the first at Newmarket where he got outpaced going into the dip and the most recent on ground that was softer than ideal for him over C&D.
While the far side is slightly the slowest part of the track based on the going stick readings, Charlie Bishop does have options from stall eight as to whether he wants to go far side or down the middle and there should be pace options to track in both with Great Max a possible front runner in stall one and Warrior Brave and Tylos in stalls eleven and fifteen respectively.
It may be that he's just not as good as he was but I think this test back on quick ground gives Accidental Agent a chance to bounce back and any 25/126.00 or bigger appeals.
