DP World Tour Championship tips and predictions

The Punter: Hojgaard chanced again at 23/1

Steve Rawlings: "I'm chancing the 2023 winner, Nicolai Hojgaard, who I backed in-running at halfway last week. Hojgaard's putter let him down a bit on Sunday, and as a result, he finished one shot shy of the playoff, but he looks very fairly priced here at 24.0 given his current well-being and how well the course suits him. The big-hitting Dane finished fourth on debut in 2021 before he won here two years ago.

"After a disappointing year on the DP World Tour, he was unable to attempt the defence 12 months ago, so this is his first visit since his victory, and I expect him to contend. As demonstrated last week, Hojgaard is a desert golf specialist and he's better suited to this week's venue than last given the big hitters enjoy a slightly bigger advantage here."

Each-Way Tips: Back 66/1 friend of the Earth Canter

Matt Cooper: "Laurie Canter has a solid record in this event, finishing fifth on debut in 2020, T27th in 2021 and T14th last year. In each of those efforts he ranked top 10 for Strokes Gained Off the Tee and also SG Approach. The former is a strength of his: he ranks 11th this season and was fifth in 2024.

"It's also an element of the game that has, pardon the pun, driven his best performances: he was excellent off the tee when winning the European Open at Green Eagle, ranked top in the category when third in this year's Dubai Desert Classic at Emirates, third in it when winning the Bahrain Championship shortly after, and second when an unlucky second in the South African Open at Durban.

"He also ranked fourth with the driver when second in the Genesis Championship in Korea two starts ago and was third when T23rd last week in Abu Dhabi. He needs a warm putter week ideally, of course, and the fact he's made gains on the field with the flat stick in the last fortnight seals the deal."

First Round Leader Tips: Side with Sully at 40/1

Dave Tindall: "I've been toying with backing Andy Sullivan - a past and profitable regular in this column - for first-round leader over the last few weeks. As it happened, it would have been a frustrating experience as he's missed out by a shot or two.

"Looking at his last three day one positions, the Englishman was 17th at the India Championship, 11th at the Genesis Championship in South Korea and sixth in Abu Dhabi last week.

"He used those scores to finish 15th, fourth and seventh respectively to book his place here and, having made the field, past form in the region suggests Sullivan can cash in.

"Sullivan was FRL in this event when runner-up in 2015 while more recently he set the pace after 18 holes of last year's Dubai Desert Classic. You'll find another UAE first-round lead from him in the 2020 Golf in Dubai Championship. Those are the highlights and hopefully he can show off his liking for desert golf again on Thursday.

"Sullivan, a 40/141.00 shot (1/5 Odds, 5 Places), tees off in the morning at 10:10."

DP World Tour Championship 2025: Course and current form stats

"It is not difficult to see why Rory is the favourite this week. The Northern Irishman in Abu Dhabi last week and now makes the short journey to a tournament where he is the defending champion. He came fourth in 2023 and sixth the year before that. He was fourth in 2019. Quite simply, he loves playing here and, arriving at the end of a brilliant year, he should be raring to go."

Bermuda Championship tips and predictions

The Punter's Preview: In-form Canadian chanced at 79/1

Steve Rawlings: "Ben Silverman finished only 21st in Mexico last week but he started slowly on Thursday to sit tied for 75th and he shot rounds of 68 and 64 over the weekend to advertise his well-being. That slow start was perhaps understandable after he finished third in the Bank of Utah Championship in his previous start (his best finish on the PGA Tour), and he looks a lively contender this week given he's ranked 14th and 12th for Putting Average in each of his last two starts.

"Silverman has never played here before, but he's handled windy conditions nicely enough in the past and there are a number of results in his portfolio that suggests the venue will suit him. Having shot 67 in blustery conditions in round one, Silverman shot 68 on Friday and 64 on Saturday to sit tied for fourth and just three off the lead at the Sony Open last year before a disappointing 70 on Sunday saw him slump to tied 18th.

Form at Waialae Country crosses over nicely and so too it appears does form at the Abaco Club in the Bahamas where Silverman won on the Korn Ferry Tour two years ago. He led last year's winner here, Rafael Campos, by two after three rounds there in 2023 and Campos won the event back in 2019.

Each-Way Picks: Low-hitter looks a big price 40/1

Dave Tindall: "The low-ball hitter I like this week is Scotland's Victor Perez. He ranks 162nd (out of 177) for Apex Height on the PGA Tour and the Frenchman showed his ability to hit under the wind when winning the 2019 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland.

"Perez had honed those skills after moving to Dundee to live with his girlfriend so was far more experienced on the links than the majority knew. He's since won the 2022 Dutch Open and 2023 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Yas Links, the latter again allowing him to show off his low ball flight.

To add another layer to his chances, Perez currently ranks 104th on the FedEx Cup Fall standings so needs a push to make the top 100 which secures his card. He's making a decent bid after 11th at the Sanderson Farms and 21st in last week's World Wide Technology Championship where a 65-65 start put him fifth at halfway.

Bermuda Championship 2025: Course and current form stats

"The American enjoys playing at Port Royal Golf Course, Southampton, Bermuda - that much is clear. On his last three visits to the venue, he has finished fifth, eighth and seventh, so must be considered one to have on your side this week. A fourth consecutive top 10 here is 3/1."
