Steve Rawlings has two triple-figure priced selections at this week's PGA Tour event - the Valero Texas Open...

With the year's first major - the US Masters - only a week away, there's no DP World Tour event this week so we only have the Valero Texas Open to consider. Four of the last seven editions have been won by a big outsider, so it's a great event for long-shots and I've picked out two.

Valero Texas Open bet #1 - Nick Taylor @ 100.099/1

I was tempted by Belgium's Adrien Dumont De Chassart, who caught the eye when finishing 12th in Houston on Sunday.

He has some very solid tee-to-green stats and should improve on last year's missed cut here on debut but instead I'm going for a pair of more experienced players who have form at the course and multiple PGA Tour wins to their names. Let's start with Canada's Nick Taylor.

It's now 10 years since Taylor sat sixth with a round to go here on debut and, although he shot 73 on Sunday to slip to tied 21st, that was a great effort on his first visit.

This is a venue that takes some getting to know, and a debutant hasn't won here since Ben Curtis took the third renewal at TPC San Antonio back in 2013, so course experience looks vital. This is Taylor's eighth visit.

He doesn't have a great bank of course form but he finished 15th last year and I'm happy to chance him at a triple-figure price given how prolific he is.

Taylor has won three times in the last three years and, although he hasn't been in sparkling form since he finished 13th when defending his Sony Open title in January (tied for the lead at halfway), that's not in the least bit off-putting given he was out-of-form before he won all five of his previous PGA Tour titles.

Valero Texas Open bet #2 - Chris Kirk @ 170.0169/1

Already a winner of six PGA Tour titles, Chris Kirk lost in a playoff at the Rocket Classic last year when bidding to win his third event in three years. He's another experienced and prolific victor who looks generously priced.

The 40-year-old hasn't been in great form of late but, like Taylor, he's capable of winning out of the blue and with course form numbers reading 48-8-13-MC-8-MC-6-35-10-MC, this is a venue at which he's clearly comfortable.

Kirk is fractionally older than Taylor, last year's winner Brian Harman and all the previous course winners at San Antonio but experience counts for plenty here given nine of the last 12 winners have been in their thirties.
