Jack Critchley has picked out his best bets for Day 30 of the 2026 World Cup

The final two quarter-finals of the World Cup take place on Saturday night and into Sunday morning and Jack Critchley has picked out his best bets for both matches. Having picked out 13/8 and 23/10 winners on Day 27, he's predicting that the Three Lions make it through to the final four on Saturday evening...

Norway ousted Brazil from the competition last weekend to book their place in the last eight. After a 28-year absence from the World Cup, they have exploded back onto the scene and will fancy their chances of causing another upset on Saturday evening. Stale Solbakken has wisely managed his resources throughout the tournament, resting key players in the dead rubber against France; however, the schedule hasn't been particularly kind to the Norwegian squad.

A sickness bug has reportedly infiltrated the camp this week, with Solbakken partly blaming the back-and-forth travelling between New Jersey and Texas over the last couple of weeks. Nevertheless, there should be plenty of time for the players to recover and rehydrate ahead of this QF tie.

Norway managed to restrict Brazil throughout the 90 minutes, although conceding two penalties and allowing them 33 touches in the opposition box would suggest that their defence can be a little haphazard at times. That should be good news for England.

We quite simply have to mention Erling Haaland. The Man City striker is going toe-to-toe with Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi in a bid to become the star of the 2026 World Cup - get the latest on the Golden Boot battle here - and he will be a constant menace for an England defence, which will be forced into yet another reshuffle following Jarrell Quansah's dismissal at the Azteca.

With 17 international goals this year and having notched in 14 consecutive games for his nation, Haaland will be tough to contain and I'd expect him to find a way past Jordan Pickford at some stage.

England showed tremendous spirit, grit and determination to hold onto their slender lead against Mexico. Several players have spoken about the camaraderie within the camp over the last few days and we should witness yet another resolute performance. Thomas Tuchel's side are firing on all cylinders going forward, yet they haven't looked quite as comfortable defensively.

The players have had the best part of a week to recover from their endeavours at the Azteca and although some are carrying niggles, this opportunity to propel their country into the final four should be enough motivation to battle through the pain barrier.

Jack's 6/17.00 Norway v England Bet Builder

I've put together a 6/1 Bet Builder for this final Round of 16 encounter. If you bet £10 on this, you can take advantage of our Bet £10 Get £10 on ACCAs or Bet Builders offer, which is available throughout the World Cup.

Alongside the aforementioned Erling Haaland, I've included England's talisman Harry Kane, BTTS and over 6.5 corners. I've also thrown an England qualification into the mix.

Argentina vs Switzerland Tip - Back the scores to be level at the break

Having comfortably eased through the group stage, Argentina have subsequently stuttered their way through the knock-outs. Unfancied Cape Verde took them to them to extra time before Egypt gave them a scare, taking a two goal lead and having a third controversially chalked off by VAR.

La Albiceleste's defence has gone from sturdy to slapstick in the space of a few days and this is reflected in their position as third favourites at 4/15.00 in the World Cup Winner market.

At the other end of the pitch, they have encountered very few issues with Lionel Messi proving to be the star of the show once again. Others have chipped in where neccessary, but everything seems to run through the mercurial Inter Miami man, and he is likely to have a say in proceedings here, too.

Argentina chalked up 2.84 xG against the Pharaohs, and 2.26 xG in the previous round, to largely mask those defensive deficiencies, yet the Swiss may not be quite as easy to penetrate.

Switzerland took Colombia all the way, and progressed courtesy of Gregor Kobel's heroics in the penalty shootout. Murat Yakin's side are incredibly tough to beat, keeping clean sheets in both of their knock-out games so far.

Unfortunately, they lack a little X-factor in the final third and tend to be functional rather than thrilling. Johan Manzambi's unfortunate mid-tournament injury dilutes their unpredictability, which may result in Argentina's defence having a far easier time in Kansas. This game, particularly in the first 45 minutes may be fairly even.

The odds suggest that this should be easy pickings for Argentina, but I don't agree. Argentina to win by a 1 goal margin paid out for us on Tuesday, and it could be worth sticking with this approach. It also wouldn't be a surprise to this game require an additional 30 minutes, which is not ideal for viewers in the UK!
