England v Ghana tips and predictions

England v Ghana: Back main man Kane in 9/25.50 Bet Builder

Dave Tindall: After scoring four of the six goals against Croatia and threatening more, it's easy to think England rack them up once more against inferior opponents.

But that may be easier said than done against a safety-first opposition.

England should get it done and very likely with a clean sheet but I'm not predicting a big scoreline. Therefore let's look at England to win but under 2.5 goals which pays 5/23.50.

After a double against Croatia and the only goal in the warm-up friendly against New Zealand, I'll take Harry Kane to get on the scoresheet again. He's 4/61.67 anytime.

Combine those two elements - Kane to net in a low-scoring win - and it's a 9/25.50 shot.

Alan Shearer Exclusive: England v Ghana prediction

Alan Shearer: I would not change a lot going into the Ghana game. There were more positives in the win over Croatia than negatives.

The negatives were that we looked edgy and nervy in the first half. I get it to an extent because there are a few players who are in their first tournament. We looked shaky defensively.

There were far more positives though. Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, Elliott Anderson who was outstanding. Nico O'Reilly was also great. Tuchel's substitutions worked really, really well...

The one change I'd look at would be to bring Marc Guehi in, or even Rashford for Anthony Gordon. I do think Tuchel will swap them around for one game and one for another.

Alan's Prediction: England will win 3-1 against Ghana. Harry Kane will go again and score a couple, and Elliot Anderson may pop up with one as well.

England v Ghana: 9/110.00 Bet Builder including Bellingham tackles

Ste Tudor: At half-time vs Croatia, Jude Bellingham's name was being said in vain in Whatsapp groups up and down the country. He was merely a moments player, hyped to the rafters.

A far more constructive second-half showing, however, soon altered the national perspective, the Real Madrid man scoring and putting in a shift defensively to boot.

He made five recoveries and for the third time in four international outings won multiple tackles.

Harry Kane's second meanwhile was also worthy of note, it being the sixth time in seven England games where he has registered a shot on target via a header. With Tuchel placing such an emphasis on set-pieces, Kane's aerial nous is a huge plus.

Declan Rice's forward forays are also a threat, especially as his goal involvements tend to come in two or three game streaks. He converted vs Costa Rica and assisted vs Croatia.

England v Ghana: Opta stat and tip

Opta stat: England's Harry Kane has netted five goals across his five international appearances against African nations, with three coming at the FIFA World Cup, against Tunisia in 2018 (two goals) and Senegal in 2022. If he scores in this game, he would overtake Gary Lineker (10) to become England's all-time top scorer in the competition.

England v Ghana: Back Semenyo in Wednesday acca

The following is one leg of Andy Robson's Wednesday five-fold. Read his article to find what else is in the acca.

Andy Robson: The centre-back partnership of Ezri Konsa and John Stones didn't get loads of protection against Croatia. Antoine Semenyo will be encouraged by periods of that match, and he's a huge shot threat from a range of angles.

He had two shots in the 1-0 win over Panama, and posted 2.33 shots per 90 in the Premier League this season.

18:00 - Portugal v Uzbekistan: Back cards at 5/2

Paul Higham: We've seen enough from the so-called minnows already in this tournament to be a bit wary, but Portugal should be able to control this game if they've sorted themselves out behind the scenes.

Cannavaro will want to tighten up after their opening defeat, so you can see this being tough for Portugal, who only had one shot on target against Congo.

But it's hard to see a side with this much talent laying such a big egg again, and ultimately they've got more than enough class whoever starts. The should do the job but not by a landslide, so back Portugal win and under 3.5 goals at 10/111.91 in the match odds.

But preference for an outright bet here is the 5/23.50 on 2+ cards for each team. Portugal got three last game and had two in four of their last five competitive internationals, while Uzbekistan have had two in just two of their last four, but Portugal have a habit of drawing cards out of you - especially when their backs are against the wall.

00:00 - Panama v Croatia: Back Modric and co to bounce back

Mark Stinchcombe: Croatia at 1/2 are overpriced. Panama's record at World Cups reads P4 W0 D0 L4 F2 A12 -10. At the 2024 Copa America, against sides that are roughly equal to Croatia in terms of ability, Panama's opponents were prices as follows: Colombia 1/3USA 2/5Uruguay 1/3So Croatia's odds offer value here.

As mentiond, Croatia lost their first game to England but losing to the side that are third favourites for the World Cup is no disgrace. Let's remember, 2018 runners-up and 2022 third place winners Croatia come here having won seven of their last nine competitive matches.

At World Cups, manager Zlatko Dalić has won 10 of his 15 matches (67%). So the bet here is to back Croatia -1.0 on the Asian Handicap on the Betfair Exchange. If they win by just one goal we get our money back, but if they win by two or more goals the bet is a winner.
