Monday Football Tips: Back 5/2 Bet Builder in drop battle

Steve Cooper's Forest face a huge game with Southampton on Monday night

Our football props column has a solid-looking 5/2 Bet Builder for Monday night's crucial Premier League relegation battle between Nottingham Forest and Southampton...

  • Felipe has fouled in 9 of his last 10 games

  • Bella Kotchap a big set-piece threat v vulnerable Forest

  • Back three-legged Bet Builder at around 5/2

Competitive game beckons

Relegation battles don't come much bigger than this and Monday Night Football promises much.

Forest will start this match in the relegation zone but know that whatever happens to Leicester and Everton in the day's earlier games that a win will take them into a position of safety.

As for Southampton, time is running out for them. The six-point gap to safety at time of writing could have stretched to eight by kick-off. Either way, with only four games remaining, this looks must-win territory for them.

It should certainly be competitive and with both sides in the top six for fouls committed and referee Michael Oliver just above the league average for fouls-per-game, the fouls markets are an obvious place to start.

Two Forest players appeal - Felipe and Brennan Johnson.

Defender Felipe has now landed the 1+ foul bet in nine of his last 10 games. Old habits from Atletico Madrid die hard and he looks a solid play at 4/9.

Johnson, who plays on the right side of the Forest attack, has been a regular fouler too and across the whole season he's committed a foul in 21 of his 31 starts. Over the past month, he's managed three fouls against both Aston Villa and Wolves and two against Leeds.

As long as he's recovered from a knock, Johnson will likely be up against Kyle Walker-Peters, a player who likes to get forward, so there will be plenty of tracking back to do.

To complete a three-legged Bet Builder, let's add Saints' Armel Bella Kotchap for 1+ shot.

Set-piece threat

The German has been a major aerial threat from set plays during the absence of Mohammed Salisu and he managed a shot in three of his four starts in April.

Throw in the fact that only Bournemouth and Leicester have conceded more shots from set-pieces than Forest and Kotchap looks well worth adding.

His presence takes the Bet Builder price up to around 5/2 which looks perfectly fair.
