Monday Football Tips: Get on Odegaard to hit the target

Mikel Arteta will hope for an Arsenal win at Newcastle

"Guimaraes has five shots on target in his last three home games, and a more attacking Odegaard has hit the target five times in his last two games."

Monday's column is off to Newcastle to back Bruno Guimaraes and in particular Arsenal's Martin Odegaard to hit the target...

The north London derby was a nightmare for Arsenal and now Mikel Arteta has to pick his side up, deal with injuries and suspensions and get a result at Newcastle.

Champions League qualification is still in their own hands, but Arteta is short of defenders with Rob Holding now suspended and Gabriel and Ben White struggling with injury.

And although Newcastle have nothing to play for, they'll be roared on in their final home game of the season, and Eddie Howe should be sending them out to have a real go at a wounded Arsenal.

Howe is usually pretty passive against the bigger sides, but he's got a great opportunity to change that here, and we should get a good game as a result.

Newcastle haven't scored in their last seven games against Arsenal, but if ever there's a game to score in it's this one.

Bruno Guimaraes scored three goals and an assist before finding Liverpool and Man City too good to have an impact. A depleted Arsenal could give him a chance to have a bigger impact here though.

Guimaraes has had five shots on target in his last three home games, so he's worth taking at 2.35/4 to have 1+ shot on target at St James' Park again.

You'd expect a decent response from Arsenal and going forward they have some excellent talent, and one in particular caught my eye on Thursday, so we're adding him in to form today's Bet Builder.

Martin Odegaard is that man after what was one of few impressive Arsenal displays at Spurs, as he got into scoring positions inside the box plenty, but was just missing the finish.

Odegaard has added much more attacking intent to his game of late and he's had multiple shots on target in his last two outings and has averaged well over two shots per game in his last eight.

You should be safe backing him to hit the target here, but we're looking a little bigger and taking the 4.57/2 on 2+ shots on target for Odergaard to see him continue his attacking streak.
