There's an all-Brazilian tie in the Copa Libertadores on Wednesday night and there are definite cards angles to be had.

Leg 1: Over 2.5 Atletico cards

The referee is Facundo Tello, an Argentine who has now shown a total of 60 cards in nine Libertadores games across this season and last (57 yellows, three reds).

He's in the top six in Argentina for both cards shown and fouls per game, being well above the league average in both categories.

Over 5.5 cards landed when these two met in Brazil's Serie A in May and that's temping at 11/10.

However, with Palmeiras being one of the best-behaved sides in Brazil, preference is for over 2.5 Atletico cards.

Only Coritiba have a worse disciplinary record than them in Serie A, while they've landed this bet in 10 of their last 13 games.

They committed a whopping 27 fouls in that league contest and a repeat here will likely have Tello reaching for his pocket regularly.

Leg 2: Renzo Saravia to be shown a card

In terms of specific players to go into the notebook, Renzo Saravia again stands out at 23/10.

The Atletico right-back has been mentioned on these pages before this summer and he's now been carded in nine of his 15 starts in 2023.

As an added bonus, he could be going up against Dudu here - the Palmeiras winger, who is back in full training after injury, is second for dribbles per game in Serie A and also the sixth most-fouled player in terms of fouls per game.

Leg 3: Artur 2+ shots

Switching to the other wing, I also like Palmeiras' Artur for 2+ shots.

It's a surprise to see him at 4/5 to achieve this given he's landed it in 17 of his 22 appearances since this competition began back in April.

OK, this is the first leg of a last-16 tie so there's no huge urgency for Palmeiras to be piling forward but the fact is they have been a better side than their opponents for some time now - the current Serie A table has them third, 10 places above Atletico, who are without a win in nine matches coming into this one.

In short, expect the Brazilian champions to do enough for Artur to get two more shots away and help land a three-legged Bet Builder which pays around 8/1.
