Sevilla Football Club are a Spanish football club based in Seville, currently playing in Spain's top flight, La Liga. The club was formed on 14 October 1905, making them the country's oldest football club, playing their first La Liga season in 1934-1935. Sevilla play at the 45,500-capacity Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán in the city of Seville.

Sevilla enjoyed their first period of success in the decade following the end of the Civil War, winning the 1945-1946 La Liga title and two Copa del Rey titles during that time. In the first season of this period (1939-1940), Sevilla won the cup after beating Racing de Ferrol 6-2, going on to lose the La Liga title on the last day to Atlético Madrid after drawing 3-3 against Hércules.
But six years later, the club went all the way and secured the club's first and only La Liga title, thanks mainly to a forward line nicknamed "los stukas" after a German bomber plane. Combining for 216 goals over four seasons, Sevilla's attacking unit of Lopez, Torrontegui, Campanal, Raimundo, Berrocal and Pepillo was one of Spain's most prolific of a generation.
After a dry spell in terms of success, Sevilla ended their trophy drought in comprehensive fashion and won their first European titles in the 2000s, winning the Copa del Rey in 2007 and 2010, as well as back-to-back UEFA Cups in 2006 and 2007.
Sevilla's main rivalry is with their cross-city rivals Real Betis. They compete in the Seville derby. The two played each other for the first time on 8 October 1915 in a match won 4-3 by Sevilla. The game is considered to be one of the fiercest local derbies in Spanish football.
The club's reserve side, Sevilla Atlético, founded in 1958, currently play in the Segunda B, Spain's second division, responsible for producing the likes of Sergio Ramos and Jesus Navas, who went on from the side and established themselves in the Sevilla first team.
Guillermo González del Río García's 214 goals for the club remain a record, while former Tottenham striker Frédéric Kanouté sits fourth on the list with 89 goals from his seven years at the club. Juan Arza holds the record for most appearances for the club, playing 349 games for the club, scoring 182 goals in the process.
