Frank Lampard's Chelsea are in the title race

"The Stamford Bridge stalemate kept both sides firmly in the hunt for this season's title with Chelsea able to be backed at 7.413/2 while Mourinho's Spurs can also be backed at 7.413/2."

A point for Chelsea and Tottenham at Stamford Bridge keeps both clubs in the title race and they lead Charlie Mullan's five things we learnt this weekend...

Blues and Spurs draw optimism from stalemate

Before Tottenham made their way across London for their latest clash with Chelsea, manager Jose Mourinho would probably have accepted a point that would have seen them return to the top of the table. Frank Lampard's Chelsea might have taken a point prior to the game too.

Even though the Blues were the home side, the draw extended Chelsea's unbeaten run to 14 in all competitions and saw their seventh clean sheet in their last nine contests against one of the best sides in the Premier League.

The Stamford Bridge stalemate kept both sides firmly in the hunt for this season's title with Chelsea able to be backed at 7.413/2 while Mourinho's Spurs can also be backed at 7.413/2.

Both teams will have their title credentials tested this weekend when Chelsea welcome Leeds to Stamford Bridge while Tottenham host Arsenal in the first north London derby of the season. Both fixtures should be played in front of a maximum 2,000 spectators as both clubs are in Covid-19 tier 2 areas.

Jota outta be a Golden Boot candidate as his scoring run continues

Liverpool scored in their 16th successive Premier League game thanks to Diogo Jota's latest goal, but a last minute controversial penalty earned Brighton a point in a 1-1 draw at the Amex Stadium.

For Jota, who is arguably the best signing of the season so far, it was his eighth goal in his last seven league and cup games for the Reds. He's settled into life at Anfield brilliantly and has started the last three league games for Jurgen Klopp rather than making cameo appearances from the bench.

Jota goes into this weekend's home game with Wolves five goals behind Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but the Portuguese international will be confident of adding to his tally regardless of whether he starts or comes off the bench.

The 23-year-old, who was 9/2 to open the scoring at Brighton on Saturday, can be backed at 30.029/1 to win this seasons's Golden Boot award.

Southampton cave in as Cavani's double spares United's blushes

Last season, Manchester United twice won Premier League matches from losing positions. This season, after just nine games, the Red Devils have four come-from-behind wins and they have come in all four of their away fixtures.

The latest rescue came at Southampton who led 2-0 with just over an hour to play. But the introduction of Edinson Cavani provided the spark that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side desperately needed.

Cavani had the assist for Bruno Fernandes' opener before completing the stunning comeback with two goals in the final 16 minutes. A Southampton/Manchester United double was 20/1 prior to kick-off.

The win moved United up into eighth spot on 16 points, with a game in hand. The Old Trafford side's inconsistency could stop them from challenging for their first title since Sir Alex Ferguson retired at the end of the 2012/13 season.

United will not be able to perform their road rescues every time they leave Old Trafford, but if they can improve defensively, then there is no reason why this squad of players cannot claim a second successive top four finish which can be backed at 2.809/5.

This weekend, United are on the road again with a trip to West Ham on Saturday. First, the Red Devils face Wednesday's crucial Champions League tie at home to Paris St-Germain.

Baggies boost survival hopes by beating blunt Blades

Saturday evening's clash between West Brom and Sheffield United felt like a true relegation six-pointer. A win for Chris Wilder's side would have seen them climb off the bottom of the table at West Brom's expense.

However, it was Slaven Bilic's Baggies that eased their drop fears for the time being with a crucial 1-0 home win thanks to Conor Gallagher's goal in the 13th minute.

The win, West Brom's first at the 10th attempt, moves Albion out of the bottom three as they welcome Crystal Palace to the Hawthorns on Sunday.

West Brom, who have been called a yo-yo club because of the regularity they follow promotion to the top flight with relegation, have a lot more work to do to avoid relegation this season and they are 8/5 to stay up. They can also be backed at 1.528/15 to be relegated.

City rediscover their scoring as Burnley bear the brunt

Manchester City supporters will be wishing they could play Burnley every week after City beat Burnley 5-0 in the Clarets' fourth successive trip to the Etihad Stadium.

After scoring five goals in City's previous six league games, the five against Sean Dyche's struggling side will have been a welcome sight for manager Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola will hope for more goals this weekend when his side host Fulham who City have beaten to nil in their last five meetings.

City are six points behind joint leaders Tottenham and Liverpool with a game in hand and therefore cannot be ruled out of the title race where they can be backed at 2.982/1.
