After parting company with Igor Tudor, Tottenham Hotspur have signed Roberto De Zerbi on a five year deal as their new head coach. The Italian joins with the Lilywhites in massive danger of relegation with just one point separating them from the bottom three and just seven games to go in the season...

Tuesday 31 March

De Zerbi signs on with Spurs

It's official, Roberto De Zerbi will br the new Spurs boss. It's been widely reported that the Italian has agreed to a five year deal at the North London club, who parted company with Igor Tudor last weekend.

With the very real prospect of relegation facing Spurs, De Zerbi has one brief across his first seven games in charge - finish above the bottom three in the Premier League. To that end, Spurs are 13/82.63 to go down at the end of the season. It's been reported that there is no relegation break clause in the contract.

Both parties are taking a risk, both will hope it's worth it.

De Zerbi hits lowest price yet for Spurs job

With Roberto De Zerbi 1.031/33 on the Betfair Exchange to become Tottenham's next permanent manager, it would be a major shock if the appointment were not to happen. So let's look at the challenges facing the Italian if, as expected, he takes charge.

Tottenham are 13/82.63 on Betfair Sportsbook to be relegated and sit one point above the dropzone with seven games to play. De Zerbi's brief for the remainder of the 2025/26 season is simple - keep Tottenham in the Premier League.

His seven games to save Spurs will commence at the Stadium of Light on 12 April when they play Sunderland. It could be a tough initiation against a Black Cats side that have made home form the cornerstone of their impressive first season back in the top flight, although their three defeats there this season have been in their last three home matches.

De Zerbi's first home match in charge would be against Brighton, the team he managed successfully from 2022 to 2024 and took into Europe. It would be fascinating to see the 46-year-old go up against his old club in his first match in front of the Tottenham fans in North London.

If De Zerbi takes the job, it will be because he believes he can keep Tottenham in the Premier League then put his own stamp on the squad in the summer and build for a much better campaign in 2026/27. It is a big task for the man who left Marseille in February but at least his two seasons in English football mean that he knows there are no easy games.

Betfair Exchange punters pile in to back De Zerbi

The Betfair Exchange punters backed Roberto De Zerbi into 1.061/18 to become the next Tottenham manager on Tuesday lunchtime.

That means there is a 94% chance that he will take over at the north London club. Advanced talks are believed to be ongoing between Spurs and the ex-Brighton boss. The club are not talking to any other candidate.

We will have the latest market moves and news as it emerges. In the meantime, there is a big night of international football in store, so check our experts' best bets for England v Japan, World Cup qualifiers and more.

Betfair Exchange sees slight drift on De Zerbi to Tottenham

The Betfair Exchange saw a small drift on Roberto De Zerbi becoming the next Tottenham manager as talks continued between the Italian and the north London club.

He is 1.330/100 (a 77% chance) on the Exchange to get the job permanently, having been as short as 1.061/18 on Monday afternoon when talks were said to be at an "advanced" stage.

The former-Brighton manager is the overwhelming favourite to become Spurs' next permanent manager - Robbie Keane is the second favourite at 6.05/1 - but the drift in the market is a reminder that it is not a done deal.

Several times in manager markets, we have seen candidates backed into odds-on before negotitations have fallen apart and another candidate has emerged as the new favourite.

Monday 30 March

Betfair Exchange betting still live on De Zerbi to Tottenham

While the Betfair Sportsbook has suspended betting on Roberto De Zerbi's move to Spurs, the Betfair Exchange is still live.

It's a very fast moving market and the Italian is short odds-on to make the move, however it's not quite 'done deal' territory yet.

At the time of writing, De Zerbi is 1.061/18 to join the struggling north Londoners. Nearly £2,000 has been matched on the Italian joining Spurs at 1.031/33 and 1.041/25.

Betting suspended on next Tottenham manager

Betfair suspended the market on the next Tottenham manager after the price on Roberto De Zerbi tumbled to heavy odds-on on Monday.

The Italian shortened throughout the morning amid reports that he was in talks with the Premier League club.

Read the story of how the situation was reflected in the Betfair market via the updates below. We will have more news as it breaks and Tottenham prices. They are 13/82.63 on Betfair Sportsbook to be relegated.

De Zerbi reportedly in talks and 1/7 to get job

Roberto De Zerbi is 1/71.14 to become Tottenham's next permanent manager after the BBC reported that the club were in talks with the Italian.

The former-Brighton manager was 2/151.13 this morning - as reported below - and the odds on him getting the Spurs job continued to shorten.

The club are said to be trying to persuade him to take over immediately and want to offer him a long term deal. His immediate task will be to take keep Tottenham in the Premier League.

They are 17th, one point above the relegation zone with seven matches to play, and 13/82.63 on the Betfair Sportsbook to go down.

Tottenham's next match is on 12 April, away to Sunderland, which would give De Zerbi almost a fortnight to settle in at his new club if he becomes the new manager.

Ex-Brighton boss odds on for Spurs job

Former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi emerged as the clear favourite to become Tottenham's next permanent manager.

The Italian is 2/151.13 on Betfair Sportsbook following reports on Sunday night that Spurs want him to take charge. De Zerbi is available - he left Marseille last month - but is not certain whether he would be prepared to take the job immediately.

He may want to wait until the summer to see if Spurs stay in the Premier League. They are 17th, one point above the relegation zone with seven matches to play, and 13/82.63 on the Betfair Sportsbook to be relegated.

That means Tottenham may still need to appoint a manager to take charge for their remaining seven games. Sean Dyche, who is 7/42.75 to be the next permanent manager, has been mentioned as a potential short-term appointment.

He has experience of keeping Everton and Burnley in the Premier League but the prospect of being parachuted in for seven games may not appeal to him.

Harry Redknapp, who left Tottenham in 2012, has made clear that he is prepared to take on the interim role. The 79-year-old is 10/111.00 to get the job permanently.

Former-Spurs striker Robbie Keane, who is enjoying a successful reign as manager of Hungarian club , is 12/113.00 to be Tottenham's next permanent manager, while Mauricio Pochettino has drfited to 16/117.00

Sunday 29 March

Sean Dyche the early favourite for Spurs job

Former Burnley, Everton and Nottingham Forest boss Sean Dyche is the 5/42.25 favourite to be the Next Permanent Tottenham manager after Igor Tudor left the club by mutual consent earlier on Sunday afternoon (see previous update).

Dyche has been installed as the early favourite, but he's only maringally shorter than Roberto De Zerbi who is the 9/43.25 second favourite to get the job.

Dyche has been the height of speculation all week that he is Tottenham's number one target should the club and Tudor depart ways, but only recently the 54-year-old laughed off the speculation, telling Talksport that he was in a pub near his home when someone said to him, "you're meant to be in talks with Spurs tonight?', to which he replied, "I'm sat next to you having a pint of Guinness, so it's unlikely - unless you work for Spurs!"

Dyche did go on to say that Tottenham are a brilliant and massive club, suggesting that he would find it extremely difficult to turn them down should they make an approach for his services.

Former Brighton boss De Zerbi is also likely to be high on the list of candidates to take over at Tottenham after he left Marseille by mutual consent last month, while former Spurs bosses Harry Redknapp 7/18.00 and Mauricio Pochettino 10/111.00 are also prominent in the betting.

BREAKING NEWS: Igor Tudor leaves Tottenham

Igor Tudor has this afternoon left Tottenham Hotspur after just 44 days in charge of the North London club.

Tudor was appointed as interim manager in the middle of February, tasked with keeping the club in the Premier League following the sacking of Thomas Frank.

But under Tudor Spurs failed to win a single league game and picked up just a single point from a possible 15, that point coming away to Liverpool which suggested fortunes might be changing for the Croat.

But in Tottenham's very next Premier League game they suffered a humiliating home defeat to relegation rivals Nottingham Forest, a defeat that left Spurs 17th in the table, just one point above the drop zone, and trading at 13/82.63 in the Relegation market.

It was reported that Tudor would likely leave the club immediately after the Forest defeat but then news broke of the sad passing of his father. However, both Tudor and Tottenham have now agreed to mutually terminate his contract and Spurs are yet again looking for a new manager.

Who will that manager be? We will have fresh odds in the Next Tottenham Manager market very soon.

Monday 23 March

Defeat to Forest piles pressure on Tudor

Mauricio Pochettino is 2/13.00 the favourite to become Tottenham's next permanent manager after Spurs' defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday left them a point above the relegation zone.

Yesterday's loss was Igor Tudor's four in the five Premier League matches since he took charge. In that time, they have taken just one point, in the 1-1 draw away to Liverpool, and been knocked out of the Champions League.

Tudor was appointed until the end of the season, following the sacking of Thomas Frank, but consecutive defeats at home in the league, against Crystal Palace and Forest, leave Spurs 6/42.50 for relegation on the Betfair Sportsbook.

Tottenham are still yet to win a Premier League match in 2026. They are winless in their past 13 league matches (D5 L8).

With the international break beginning today, Spurs have the opportunity to get a new manager in and give him time to prepare for their next match in just under a fortnight. They have seven league matches to play.

It could be make or break time for Tottenham, in terms of this season, and we will have the latest here on Betting.Betfair.

Tudor under pressure and Poch fav for permanent job

Mauricio Pochettino is the 2/13.00 favourite to be Tottenham's permanent next manager after their season plumbed new depths with a 5-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid.

It was the fourth straight defeat of Igor Tudor's reign following the Croatian's appointment as manager until the end of the season.

Before the match, he made the big call to drop goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and start rookie Antonin Kinsky. With Spurs 3-0 down, however, and Kinsky at fault for two of the goals, Tudor made the extraordinary decision to substitute his keeper after 17 minutes.

Several people, from Atletico manager Diego Simeone to commentators and ex-Spurs players, said they had never witnessed anything like it. Tudor said afterwards that he was protecting Kinsky but his failure to offer the young goalkeeper so much as a pat on the back as he left the field angered many onlookers.

Tudor was appointed to get an immediate reaction from Spurs players but, after four defeats in a row, and the club one point above the relegation zone and 7/42.75 to go down, he has failed.

Next up they play Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday, with the return leg against Atletico on Wednesday, but whether Tudor will still be at the helm is not certainty.

Friday 13 February

Spurs go for the unexpected with Tudor appointment

We started the day thinking Marco Rose was going to take over from Thomas Frank at Tottenham but, in a move few saw coming, the club have reached verbal agreement with Igor Tudor to take over until the end of the seasno.

Tottenham are five points above the drop zone with 12 games to play. Wolves, on nine points, cannot be backed for relegation. Spurs are the fourth shortest odds of teams left in the Betfair Sportsbook's relegation betting at 13/27.50. Burnley, West Ham, and Nottingham Forest are considered more likely to go down than Spurs.

Tudor was backed at a high of 21/122.00 in the betting on Next Spurs Manager.

Have Spurs found their man?

After a quiet Thurday in the Next Tottenham Manager market a favourite has emerged overnight and it is a name not in the original lists when the betting opened - ex-RB Leipzig manager Marco Rose.

The German, a former player in the Bundesliga, has won trophies in both Austria and Germany in a career that has seen manage Red Bull Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund and Mainz as well as RB Leipzig.

Rose is the clear favourite in the Betfair Sportsbook market at 1/12.00. Roberto De Zerbi remains second favourite at 3/14.00

Betting order remains unchanged but market leaders tighten up

It's been a hectic day in the Next Tottenham Manager market with two candidates - Roberto de Zerbi and John Heitinga - trading at odds-on on two seperate occasions.

Those two remain the market leaders at 6/42.50 and 5/23.50 respectively, but as mentioned in our earlier update, Mauricio Pochettino is proving to be a popular bet and he's now into 4/15.00 to make a dramatic return as the new Tottenham manager.

Pochettino guided Spurs to the Champions League final in 2019 before having stints at Paris SG and Chelsea. He is currently in charge of the USA national team and signed a new two-year contract extension in September 2025.

To be the Next Permanent Tottenham Manager:

- Roberto de Zerbi 5/23.50
- John Heitinga 5/23.50
- Mauricio Pochettino 4/15.00
- Robbie Keane 11/26.50
- BAR 14/115.00

Poch the most backed in the early betting

With a succession of short-lived managers at the helm since he departed from the club, it is Mauricio Pochettino who is attracting the most bets on day one of betting on the Next Spurs Manager.

The Argentine has never made a secret of his intention to return to the club and is potentially the one appointment that most fans would get behind.

Spurs are just five points above the relegation places and desperately need a manager who can get the best out of the resources available.

Poch has attracted 32% of the bets since the market opened with Roberto de Zerbi the next best backed at 17%.

Tottenham assistant boss Heitinga goes favourite

In what we expect to be a fast-moving market, Tottenham assistant manager John Heitinga has gone odds-on at 8/111.73 to become the next permanent boss at the North London club.

Heitinga quickly leapfrogs Roberto de Zerbi in the market who was initially installed as the 8/111.73 favourite but is now out to 6/42.50.

Heitinga was appointed as Tottenham's assistant manager to Thomas Frank just four weeks ago and it is thought that should Spurs not find a permanent manager before the North London Derby in 12 days time then Heitinga will be put in interim charge. A reminder, that should an interim manager be in charge for at least 10 consecutive games then he will be deemed the winner in the market.

The 42-year-old Dutchman was sacked from Ajax in mid December last year following four consecutive Champions League defeats that saw the club sit 36th in the the league stage table.

Current Fulham manager Marco Silva is the third favourite in the market at 15/28.50, just head of former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino who can be backed at 9/110.00 to make a sensational return to the club.

Former Tottenham favourite Robbie Keane has attracted a bit of early support and is 10/111.00 in the market. The 45-year-old is currently doing an excellent job with Hungarian side Ferencvaros and has them joint top of the Hungarian League as well as reaching the play-offs in the Europa League.

To be the Next Permanent Tottenham Manager:

- John Heitinga 8/111.73
- Roberto de Zerbi 6/42.50
- Marco Silva 15/28.50
- Mauricio Pochettino 9/110.00
- Robbie Keane 10/111.00

*odds correct as of 11:25 Wednesday 11 February

Frank sacked with De Zerbi odds-on to replace him

Tottenham have pulled the trigger on Thomas Frank's disastrous reign as manager with former Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi the early 8/111.73 favourite to replace him.

Frank was sacked on Wednesday morning following the previous night's 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle, a result that left Spurs 16th in the table just five points above the drop zone.

Meanwhile, on the same morning De Zerbi mutually agreed to terminate his contract with Marseille following the club's 5-0 drubbing by Paris SG. With the 46-year-old Italian now available to take up another managerial role as well as having experience of the Premier League during his role with Brighton, it makes sense that he has been installed the early favourite for the Tottenham job.

Betfair spokesman Jamie Mackie said, "Ex-Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi is now the 8/111.73 favourite to take over at Tottenham Hotspur after the former Marseille boss was sacked from his current role on Tuesday.

"The North London club sacked Thomas Frank on Wednesday morning after being winless in their last eight Premier League games and sit just five points clear of the relegation zone in 16th.

"Former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with plenty of clubs over the last few months but could now make a sensational return to the club he once managed at 4/15.00.

"Other interesting potential appointments for the Premier League club include Marco Silva of Fulham at 5/16.00, ex-Barcelona talisman Xavi Hernandez at 5/16.00, and ex-Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim at 15/28.50 to make a quick return to the English top flight."

To be the Next Permanent Tottenham Manager:

- Roberto de Zerbi 8/111.73
- Mauricio Pochettino 4/15.00
- Marco Silva 5/16.00
- Xavi Hernandez 5/16.00
- Andoni Iraola 6/17.00

*odds correct as of 10:15 Wednesday 11 February
