F.C. Internazionale Milano, colloquially known as Inter Milan, or Inter, were founded in 1905 and are the only Italian club to have spent their entire history in Serie A, since the league's inception in 1929. They share their 80,018-capacity San Siro ground with archrivals AC Milan, after becoming tenants in 1947.

Inter are one of the most successful clubs in Italy. Domestically, they have won 18 Serie A titles, seven Coppa Italias, and five Supercoppa Italiana titles. In world football they have won three European Cups, three UEFA Cups, and one Club World Cup.
The flamboyant Jose Mourinho is one of the club's greatest ever managers. During his two year tenure between 2008 and 2010, he won five trophies (two Serie A titles, one Supercoppa Italiana, one Coppa Italia and one Champions League). It was his Champions League success that ingrained his place in Inter history, since before that success in 2010, the club had not won the tournament since winning it in consecutive years back in 1964 and 1965. Their 2-0 triumph, thanks to two Diego Milito goals, over Bayern Munich in the 2010 final actually completed a glorious treble for the club.
Argentine right-back Javier Zanetti has gone on to make 845 appearances for the club since his arrival in 1995, making him the record appearance holder. In the goal stakes, striker Giuseppe Meazza holds the record, with 243 league goals. The San Siro stadium is actually called the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in honour of the striker. Legendary Brazilian forward Ronaldo spent five years at the club, scoring 59 goals in 99 games. Shrinking violet Zlatan Ibrahimovic also spent three years at the club, scoring 66 goals in 116 appearances. The club also shelled out £32million, a then world record, for Lazio striker Christian Vieri in 1999, and the striker scored 103 goals in 143 appearances.
The club contest the Derby della Madonnina against AC Milan. The rivalry has existed since Inter broke away from AC Milan in 1908. Like most rivalries, it stems from differing social standings. Inter have always represented the middle class of Milan, while AC fans are predominately working class.
The clash brings the city to a standstill. Flares are common at the clash and sadly so is violence. The two clubs' "ultras" (hardcore fans) often prove problematic for Italian police. There have been 210 official matches between the two sides. Inter have won 75 of these and AC have won 73. Giuseppe Meazza is the top scorer in the clash.
