Villarreal v Alaves
Wednesday 18:00
In Spain last night, Getafe roared into a 3-0 half-time lead against Betis, then took their foot off the gas and the match finished the same way at full time. They go to the top of the table and we go to the suburbs of Valencia with a spring in our step.
Unai Emery is the new man in charge of Villarreal and he has guided the Yellow Submarine to four points from their first two home games of the new season. However, they conceded in both of those matches and, though they start as heavy favourites, we fancy they might not have everything their own way when they host Alaves this evening. The hosts conceded in 12/19 league appearances at El Madrigal last term, while both teams have scored in each of Villarreal's last five head-to-heads with Alaves.
Alaves were a poor W3-D3-L13 on the road last season and they too have changed coach. Pablo Machin watched his new charges lose their first away game of the new campaign at Granada, but they found the back of the net in that 1-2 defeat and, with Alaves also scoring on 11/19 road trips last term, we like the odds-against price on both teams scoring again today.
