Pep Guardiola's men have regularly won corner counts this season

"It’s worth remembering how Real set up in Paris when up against PSG’s feared front line – they barely had a shot and that night they had just one corner to their hosts’ seven."

Our football props column has found a corners angle for Tuesday night's Champions League semi-final between Manchester City and Real Madrid...

There's a corners angle worth taking a look at ahead of Tuesday's Champions League semi-final at the Etihad Stadium.

The handicap market gives Real a three-corner start but that's one Manchester City have covered in seven of their 10 Champions League games this season, including four of five at home.

OK, the opposition is arguably the best yet but City battered PSG 17-2 on corners over two group-stage games, while Atletico Madrid's defensive approach here in the last round saw City win the corner count 9-0.

It's worth remembering how Real set up in Paris when up against PSG's feared front line - they barely had a shot and that night they had just one corner to their hosts' seven.

Similar tactics here from Carlo Ancelotti would not be a huge surprise but regardless of the away side's approach, I can certainly see City covering this -3 handicap at even money.

They may well look to target the full-backs - Dani Carvajal is not the player he once was, while on the other side the ageing Marcelo may be called upon with Ferland Mendy an injury doubt.

Operating in these areas and trying to get balls into the box result in corners.

I considered Carvajal to be shown a card - he's been booked in two of his four appearances in this season's knockout stage and looks likely to be troubled by whoever plays down the City left, be it Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling or Jack Grealish.

However, the way I'm going to look to pump up the price is by backing over 2.5 Real cards.

They've landed this in three of four knockout games so far, picking up four when taking that cautious approach at PSG in the last 16.

We've got a decent referee for cards too - Istvan Kovacs has shown at least four in 15 of his last 20 UEFA club appointments. His tallies this season are 5, 6, 4, 2, 11, 4, 2, 8, 5.

Double the two bets up in a Bet Builder and you get a decent-looking price of 4.47/2.
