"Vasile Miriuta's Railwaymen have scored in all eight of their away games this season"
Defences are on a fast track to hell as the Black Devils meet the Railwaymen in southern Romania, says Tobias Gourlay
Astra Giurgiu v CFR Cluj
Thursday 18:30
Dinamo Bucharest 3 Steaua Bucharest 1 in the big game from Romania yesterday. The Red Dogs got their bone, and so did we - largely thanks to a first-half penalty apiece. But they all count.
We start the new month where we finished the old one. In Romania. Today it's Astra Giurgiu and CFR Cluj catching our eye. This season and last, all three of their Liga 1 clashes have delivered goals at both ends and that's our fancy for this one.
Astra are Romania's reigning champions, but they languish in 11th place. However, the Black Devils have scored in 4/5 home games since Marius Sumudica took charge and we like their chances of notching at least one against a Cluj defence that has kept a clean sheet on just 1/8 away days this season.
At the other end, Vasile Miriuta's Railwaymen have scored on all eight of those road trips. With five of those games coming against teams now in the top half, they will be confident of striking at least once against a lower-half outfit.
