Two of last year's leading contenders in MLS, Sporting Kansas City and New England Revolution are struggling this time round, but of the two, it is the visitors who look the stronger bet here.
Bruce Arena's New England ran away with the Supporters' Shield last season but have struggled reach those standards in 2022. Still, there are signs of improvement. Going into the international break, the Revs had put together five games unbeaten and cut their average goals conceded from 2 to 1.4 per game.
By contrast, there is no sign yet of a Kansas revival. They have the second poorest defensive record in the Western Conference and with significant injury problems to deal with, it is hard to see them improving in the short term.
It's a relatively quiet Sunday for racing fans, but the pick of the action in the UK is this Listed sprint contest at Salisbury.
Nahaarr is the obvious class horse in the race, having progressed to Group level last season, but he has been off the track for a year and may need a run or two to get back to his best, with the July Cup likely to be his main target.
The unexposed and improving Benefit could be of interest here, but Edraak looks a better option. A steadily progressive sprinter last season, he put in his best-ever performance when finishing second in a conditions stakes race at Newcastle, beating a number of Group quality horses in the process. That suggests he may still have some improvement and with fitness on his side, he is taken to get the better of Nahaarr.
Nashville are favourites to get the better of their struggling visitors on Sunday, but I think the San Jose Earthquakes are good value for a point.
Head coach Matias Almeyda paid the price for San Jose's poor start to the season but under his interim replacement, Alex Covelo, they have shown steady improvement, picking up 11 points from their last seven.
More significantly, they are continuing to fire in the goals. Despite being one place off the bottom, they are the third-highest scorers in the Western Conference, and tend to dominate possession. Against a more cautious Nashville line-up, that offensive potency could give them an edge and they are capable of earning a draw.
