Roy Hodgson’s Watford are running out of time to save themselves

“Watford have shown some fighting spirit away from home, beating Villa and Southampton and holding Manchester United to a draw, but at Vicarage Road they have lost nine in a row.”

Pandora Hughes is back with another weekend wager and she's banking on Brentford picking up another win against struggling Watford.

Bet 1: Back Brentford to beat Watford at 6/4

A few weeks ago it looked as though Brentford were slipping back into the relegation mix, but out of nowhere, they put together a run of four wins from five games, including victories over West Ham and Chelsea, that has given them a realistic chance of finishing in the top half of the table.

Sadly, Watford fans can only dream of reaching those dizzy heights at the moment, as they watch their club slip inexorably towards another relegation. Four defeats in five has left the Hornets one place off the bottom and requiring a minor miracle.

Watford have shown some fighting spirit away from home, beating Villa and Southampton and holding Manchester United to a draw, but at Vicarage Road they have lost nine in a row. Brentford no longer need the points, but they are in top form and I'm banking on them winning this one.

Bet 2: Back Angel Bleu to win the Greenham Stakes at 7/4

The first of the Classics will soon be upon us and there will be plenty of clues around this weekend, including at Newbury on Saturday, which hosts this traditional springtime 2000 Guineas rehearsal.

Lusail has plenty of pace but disappointed when stepped up to this trip at the end of his two-year-old campaign and may have less improvement in him than some of the others, comments which also apply to the progressive two-year-old Flaming Rib.

Perfect Power has a Group One win under his belt and is respected, but Angel Bleu looks the best bet here. The Dark Angel colt has won three times at this distance, including two Group One successes and looks a solid proposition.

Bet 3: Back Arsenal to beat Southampton at 10/11

Neither team will go into this game with much confidence, although Arsenal's need for the points is greater and that could make the difference.

The Saints are drifting towards the summer in dispiriting fashion, with only one win in eleven and three successive home defeats. Meanwhile, Arsenal have hit a potentially ruinous late-season bump in the road, losing three out of four to hand Tottenham the advantage in the race for the fourth Champions League spot.

Still, they do at least have something to play for, unlike their opponents, and that extra motivation, as well as the greater talent running through their team, should give them enough of an edge to scramble a much needed three points here.
