And their record at top-six sides is appalling. This season, they've lost 4/4 previous trips to La Liga's best, going down by two goals or more in 3/4 and conceding four times at both Real Madrid and Villarreal.

It's not Moyes' fault, of course, but last season they went W0-D1-L5 on the road to the top six, with 4/5 defeats by more than just the odd goal.

Football Form Labs data shows that, since returning to La Liga in 2010, Sociedad are an overall W4-D3-L16 at top-six finishers, with 10/16 defeats not by the narrowest of margins.
