Newcastle to bounce back at Fulham's expense
-
Plymouth to keep on rolling at Home Park
-
Swans to upset Middlesbrough
Leg 1 Newcastle (90mins) @ 8/111.73 (15:00)
Fulham are in red-hot form and Newcastle have lost three matches in a row in all competitions, but I am still taking the Magpies to win this afternoon.
Eddie Howe's men have actually won their last six on the bounce at St James' in the Premier League, and the latter three came against Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United.
The visitors have just had back to back 5-0 victories, but they were both at Craven Cottage, and they are winless in seven on the road - losing on four occasions.
Leg 2 Plymouth (90mins) @ 8/151.53 (15:00)
I wouldn't normally take Plymouth at such a short price, but they are at home against Rotherham, and really should be winning.
The Pilgrims were promoted from League One thanks to their strong form in front of their own fans, and it is their results at Home Park that are keeping them out of the relegation zone in the Championship.
Steven Schumacher's side have won 6 of their 10 at home this term, and it's 10 points from the last 12 available. Rotherham, meanwhile, are bottom of the table, and have taken just two points from a possible 30 on their travels.
Leg 3 Swansea (90mins) @ 15/82.88 (15:00)
Michael Duff was dismissed as Swansea manager in early December, and since then, the Swans have won at Rotherham and drawn 1-1 at Stoke.
Admittedly that isn't scintillating form, but it is progress, and Middlesbrough are having one of their bad patches.
Michael Carrick's team have been beaten in four of their last five, and while they have had a tough run of fixtures, confidence can be a big thing in football.
Leg 4 Derby (90mins) @ 2/51.40 (15:00)
The Rams are on the rise with five straight League One victories, and they start the day in sixth place - just three points off automatic promotion.
Wycombe travel to Pride Park, sitting in 15th place, and the Chairboys haven't won in the league since October 7th - a run of eight matches.
The hosts have won five of their last seven on this ground - the other two being draws - and they can make it win number six here.
Leg 5 Oxford United (90mins) @ 1/21.50 (15:00)
The selection are fifth in League One, and given that they are at home, and up against a Burton team who are down in 19th, they look like a pretty safe bet to pick up all three points.
Des Buckingham's men have actually gone four without a victory in the league, but three of those were on the road, and it's just one defeat in nine at home this year - winning on five occasions.
Burton are currently managerless following the sacking of Dino Maamria last Saturday. They had taken just one point from six games, and with no new permanent manager named, a sudden improvement feels like a long-shot.
Acca Wreckers
Both of last week's Acca wreckers not only failed to win, they actually lost, and I am hoping for more success this week.
The first selection are Leeds, as they are just too short at 4/91.44 to beat Coventry. Daniel Farke's team were beaten 1-0 at Sunderland in the week, and while it's seven straight wins at Elland Road, they have been conceding goals in the process.
The Sky Blues have hit form with three wins in five and one defeat in six, and they can hold their own in Yorkshire.
The second Acca wrecker also comes from the Championship, as I have to oppose Southampton at 4/71.57 to win at home against Blackburn.
Rovers have been great away from Ewood Park this season, winning five of their 10 away games to date. The Saints have been held on their two latest outings, and while they were both on the road, their win percentage at St Mary's since their relegation is only 60%.
