- Hammers to come back down to earth
- Ipswich to cut the deficit at the top
- Saints to march on
Leg 1 Brentford (90mins) @ 10/111.91 (15:00)
West Ham put in a big performance to beat Arsenal in the Carabao Cup during the week, and that, along with their European schedule could catch up with them here.
Brentford have won their last two, without conceding a goal. They followed up their 3-0 victory over Burnley with a 0-2 success at Stamford Bridge last weekend.
The Hammers have lost their last two in the league and won just one of their last six.
Leg 2 Ipswich (90mins) @ 5/61.84 (15:00)
Wayne Rooney has lost all three matches in charge of Birmingham, and things don't get any easier with the visit of Ipswich on Saturday.
The Tractor Boys can close the gap on Leicester at the top to just two points with a win at St Andrew's, and that's something that they have achieved in eight of their last nine Championship outings.
Since their promotion from League One, they have won five of their six away matches - conceding just two goals in the process.
Leg 3 Stoke (90mins) @ 1/12.00 (15:00)
Alex Neil's Stoke have returned to form with victories in all three of their last three games, and those successes came against Sunderland, Leeds and Middlesbrough.
They face another tough opponent on Saturday, in the shape of Cardiff, with the Bluebirds up to sixth, courtesy of back to back wins over Huddersfield and Cardiff.
Four of their last six away games have ended in defeat though, and the hosts have been beating a better calibre of team recently.
Leg 4 Southampton (90mins) @ 1/12.00 (15:00)
The Saints are back in form following a few iffy results, and while they are away at Millwall, I think they are a good bet to pick up another three points.
The Lions are down in 18th, and they currently have Adam Barrett installed as caretaker manager. They have gone four without a win, and they have already been beaten at home four times this term.
Southampton have taken 14 points from the last 18 available, and seven of those came from three away fixtures.
Leg 5 Bristol City (90mins) @ 1/12.00 (15:00)
Nigel Pearson was sacked by the Bristol City board following their 2-0 defeat at Cardiff last weekend, and I am hoping that the players will get a lift from Curtis Fleming taking temporary charge.
Sheffield Wednesday are the visitors to Ashton Gate, with the Owls having just recorded their first win since their promotion from League One.
I am not convinced by a 2-0 victory over Rotherham though, and the hosts have actually won two of their last four at home.
Acca Wreckers
Sheffield United have endured a miserable campaign since their promotion back to the Premier League, but I can't have Wolves at 10/111.91 to beat them at Bramall Lane.
The Blades have lost nine of their 10, but bar the Newcastle thumping, their home losses have been by a single goal margin. They also held Everton to a draw here.
On Sunday, the in-form Aston Villa are 8/111.73 to make it six wins from seven in the league, but there have been teams at shorter prices than that fail to take three points from a visit to the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest are yet to lose at home this season, and only five clubs beat them here last term.
