This will be the third time that Plymouth Argyle and Leeds United have met in 2024 after the sides were drawn against each other in the FA Cup, and they couldn't be separated at Elland Road, necessitating a replay which Daniel Farke's side won on the south coast after extra-time.

The 4-1 scoreline that night made Leeds' progression look a lot more comfortable than it actually was, with Argyle's Brendan Galloway cancelling out Willy Gnonto's opener.

Leeds' team selection that evening suggested that the league was very much the priority, so the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Georgino Rutter, who were goalscorers called off the bench to ensure progression, will surely be seen from the start here.

For Ian Foster, Argyle's newish Head Coach, valiant draws seem to be his speciality. Six of their last 11 Championship games in the league have seen the points shared, the most recent five all score-draws, with a 2-2 against Coventry in midweek particularly frustrating after conceding a 96th minute equaliser.

They've scored in all but one game at Home Park this season, an anomalous 2-0 defeat to Millwall back in October, and will fancy their chances of getting on the scoresheet here despite Leeds' three away clean sheets in a row.

They've scored in all three of their meetings this season, two of which were on the road, and in Morgan Whittaker they possess the only other wide player in the league who can stake a claim to rival Summerville for Player of the Season.

Leeds do seem to have sorted their form out on their travels though, with three wins to nil on the bounce to follow three defeats. By the time this kicks off we will know if Southampton have bounced back from their midweek defeat when travelling to West Brom on Friday night, but either way this is an opportunity for Leeds to capitalise on that mistake and, dare I say it, even put the pressure on Leicester ahead of their clash on Friday night next week.

All three games between these sides have followed a similar pattern, with Argyle laying a cleaner glove on Leeds that many manage, but eventual pressure telling. Given Argyle's home form this will likely be no different, so the Leeds win and BTTS at 6/4 looks the best way to side with the away side.
