Leipzig go into big game without a manager

RB Leipzig have plenty on the line when they host the Group A winners Manchester City on Tuesday evening.

The Germans are third in the group, ahead of Club Brugge only by virtue of having a superior head-to-head goal difference. They must therefore at least match Brugge's result against PSG, if they are to hold onto their Europa League qualification spot.

To make matters more complicated, at the time of writing RB Leipzig do not have a permanent manager, having sacked Jesse Marsch over the weekend. Leipzig lost 2-1 at Union Berlin at the weekend, which was their third successive defeat in the Bundesliga and leaves them eleventh in the table. Achim Beierlorzer will take temporary charge of the team.

Things are going decidedly smoother for Manchester City, who moved to the top of the Premier League over the weekend. City beat Watford 3-1, which was their seventh consecutive victory across all competitions.

Take chance on unmotivated City to win

Manchester City are the 2.0621/20 favourites, with RB Leipzig at 3.55/2 and the draw at 4.216/5.

The visitors have already won Group A and are therefore lacking in motivation compared to their opponents. This is reflected in their price, which may prove to be a little generous.

City have won four of their five group games, with their only defeat coming away at PSG. They won the reverse fixture 6-3 and now face a Leipzig side in poor form and without a permanent manager. Even if Pep Guardiola heavily rotates he can still field a very strong side, so it seems worth taking a chance on Manchester City winning this one at 2.0621/20.
