Champions League odds are available regarding which team will win the competition each year before it gets underway and these are updated throughout the rounds.

Teams are drawn into groups in the early stages before a straight knockout run into the final.

The first ever winners of the Champions League were Marseille during the 1992/1993 campaign. They upset the Champions League odds that season by becoming the first French side to win the competition when they defeated Milan 1-0 in Munich.

In 1995, Ajax went all the way to lift the trophy. The Dutch club were not one of the fancied teams in the outright odds that year. However, they were also able to beat Milan 1-0 in the final, held in Vienna on that occasion.

With just minutes to go in the 1999 Champions League final, Bayern Munich were heavy odds-on favourites when they were 1-0 up against Manchester United. However, the English club were able to score two injury-time goals to produce one of the most dramatic wins in history. The game looked set to be going into extra-time when Teddy Sheringham equalised but substitute Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sealed the victory with seconds to go.

There were also very short Champions League odds available on AC Milan at half-time of the 2005 final against Liverpool. The Italian side were 3-0 up after a goal from Paolo Maldini and a brace by Hernan Crespo. However, Steven Gerard, Vladimir Smicer and Xabi Alonso all scored in the space of six minutes following the break to level the game and force it into extra-time and penalties in Istanbul.  The shootout was won 3-2 by Liverpool, who were underdogs going into the tie.

Porto are one of the biggest priced winners from the ante-post betting to go on to win the prize. In 2004, Jose Mourinho guided them to success; along the way they eliminated Manchester United and Lyon in the knockout stages. In the final in Gelsenkirchen they defeated Monaco 3-0 to lift the trophy. That was their second consecutive European win as they landed the UEFA Cup in the previous season.

In 2011, Barcelona won their third Champions League final in six years. They were favourites at the start of the competition to do so and justified their short odds by beating Manchester United at Wembley in the final 3-1.
