Tuchel made big calls with England squad
Thomas Tuchel has made one or two big calls with one or two surprises. I'm surprised Ivan Toney is in and not Dominic Calvert-Lewin if he's going to take three centre-forwards.
But I guess he has one eye on penalties because I guess who ever wins the World Cup will, somewhere along the line, have to win a penalty shootout.
I'm surprised Harry Maguire isn't in the squad. He's had a really good season and is experienced.
I'm pleased for the Newcastle boys, although I'm surprised Lewis Hall isn't in the squad.
There are players in there who haven't played a great deal of football. I mean, Jordan Henderson hasn't, Anthony Gordon hasn't in the last month.
Defence may be England's weakness
Phil Foden and Cole Palmer, by their own very high standards, haven't had great seasons and we've always said about a manager having to make big calls, and it's a big call leaving both out.
I guess that's what England hired Thomas Tuchel for. He's not afraid of reputations and he will make big calls.
The proof will be in the pudding. Let's see if that squad works. I do think we'll have one or two defensive issues the further England go in the tournament.
